Compassion

What's happening in the world when your own family knows your suffering badly and just leaves you to rot. Does this make me a bad person that know one cares enough. , I must be a horrid person right, I'm left to struggling through by myself. Or is it that just everyonev has their own issues. Why can't people reach out even if they are stressed or busy. Is this the society we live in now. ??? It's so me me me. What happened to all of us looking after each other showing compassion understanding empathy and solidarity. Going to visit or send a text message would be nice. It takes 5 seconds to send a text message! people deep down feel guilt or remorse that they ignore suffering and deal with that shame by blaming the other person or make an excuse but really it's just avoidance. Or it's like it's not my problem. You need to pull yourself together. Get a team of professionals to look after you. That's just outsourcing. It's actually shameful when I think about it because professionals are great but they don't love and care about you as a family should. We as a society are heading in such an uncaring hard hearted way it blows me over. Rreaching out even when you feel crap or too busy should be something humans do naturally. Some do I concede but a lot of time people just look away. Why is that. What happened?? if you have a loving caring family and good friends lucky you but if you don't and are all alone. I'm sorry.

Re: Compassion

Preach it!!! It sucks. I would do anything for anyone but when I need help nothing! I have literally left dinners, movies and you name it to help out friends but I can't even get a text!!!

I hate being told by my loved ones and family's I'm unwell and need professional help. Hey what about a I love you, a hug, a funny text or just what do you feel like taking about I'm here.

And because I love my friends and family so much I've sent them so much info on my illness and how to look after me, warning signs, when to call doctors but most likely how to look after them self because it must be hard to have a friend family member with mental illness. But I know I don't drain them well hopefully don't I try not talk about my issues with them and try to engage in their life. Because that's what friends do!

But what I have come to realise my friends and family's are not me. They are not going to act like me they are them self. I can't control people. I don't think it means they love us left they just don't think like us. Which is frustrating because you treat people how you like to be treated but you sadly can't control people.

Well that's my thoughts anyway.

Re: Compassion

I m just wondering how society got like this. Were we always like this. I don't think so. It's human nature to want to engage with other human beings. I just don't understand the problem. How is sending a text message infringing on them. How hard is a hug. So much for are you ok day. They think depression should just go away by itself and don't get it's a life long struggle. I just can't understand if they say we love and care about you but then Do nothing to make you feel loved and cherished how is that loving and caring.

Re: Compassion

I think it's because we live in a fast pace world now. We are a go go what can get we get out of life generation. We don't stop to smell the roses now. I think years ago people where actualy there for each other except when it came to mental health. It was unknown scary and taboo. At least some of the world understands it now so that's a plus.

Sadly some people don't know how to show they care. It's the most frustrating thing ever! I do think your friends and family like mine love us they are just not good at showing it. Again we can't control people how they act.

Re: Compassion

I would love to know what you all think on this subject. Do you think society has become compassionless

Re: Compassion

I have thought a lot of similar things to your opening post @esprit

The best I can come up with is that .. there is positivity and compassion .. the level and freshness and creativity and modernity of it can actually surprise me ...but it is in pockets. .. and I look hard for it.

Re: Compassion

I don't think society has become compassionles. I just think respect and manners have gone down the toilet. There are more charity's in the world at this time. We are the most compassion generation and quik acting when it comes to natural disasters and stuff.
