@Former-Member Ditto to you too I can’t imagine doing electrical work in the storm and rain. It would be quite dangerous. On the plus side you do get to rest after disrupted sleep. Yeah weather people saying we are in for a few days of wild winter weather.

Have you been a tradesperson for ages? Do you enjoy it? There appears to be decent work around for those in various trades.

Re: Saturday Soiree - 26th July 2025

@Cuddlebear I finished VCE and went straight into an electrical apprenticeship. So I've been a sparky for over 25 years. I'm a jack of all trades and I love being able to take things apart and repair them, not to mention building and creating things. Unfortunately I suffered workplace mental trauma with my last employer due to situations and confronting things I was exposed to, as well as witnessing many things that required numerous reports to various government departments and authorities.

After 3 years of that my perception of society and reality was seriously affected. Seeing the worst side of Victoria, day in, day out doesn't help at all.

Re: Saturday Soiree - 26th July 2025

@Former-Member Wow 25 years is a decent amount of time and it’s such a handy and creative skill to have. I’d love to be able to repair stuff like that and take things apart and fix em up. It’s definitely not my strength that’s for sure. I’m sorry it sounds like you’ve experienced severe trauma at your previous employer. No one should ever be harmed by going to work whether it is physically and/or mentally. Are you more self employed now or I’m really hoping with an employer where work environment is a healthy and safe one.

Do you have side projects at home you work on?

@Cuddlebear I've started laser engraving within the last 12 months, although it's been a month or two since I have created anything. prior to that I dabbled with 3d printing for a while. And you? any crafts or projects that you're doing?

Re: Saturday Soiree - 26th July 2025

@Former-Member Laser engraving sounds like a lot of fun and also there’s so much scope of the things you can do. I think you mentioned in a previous chat thwt you have an engraver at home? Our local library has a 3D printer and they said they will run some workshops for fun and it’s something I will try once they get those up and running. Is it hard the 3D printing?

I like to do mosaics and have done some workshops over the years. I’m not particularly talented but I do small pieces for people as a gift. I don’t do as much anymore because I’ve lost a lot of my sight and can’t use a glass cutter safely anymore which makes mosaic really restrictive. I’m good with words so I like to write a little just for my own enjoyment. NDIS have recently funded an excellent magnifier for me which will allow me to do more art and craft. Can’t use it yet as have to move from this rental and don’t want to unpack it. It’s large and expensive so I’ll wait until I get a new place and move. But I’m really looking forward to using it and being able to do things which I’ve not been able to do since losing my sight.
