Spud Buds!

Spud Buds!

Potato is life!!

Hiya Forums Pals!! By popular request (care of several superstar attendees in one of our mental health recovery groups, and a cracker of an ice breaker), this space is for all lovers of potatoes, and all their glorious forms!!

We ask now the whole forums community to join us in our admiration of this fine root vegetable. But, this may split the community asunder as we discuss....

What do you think is the superior form of the humble potato?

Is it the classic hash brown? The noble potato gem? Or the oft-overlooked mash? Maybe something obscure, like gnocchi?

Let us know gang!!

@Former-Member omg no one has mentioned potato scallops yet!! A classic from the fish n chip shop hehe

Also aren't they called different things regionally? Like scallops is a NSW/QLD thing I think, but down in Vic they're potato cakes!

Oh @NightFury did you not see that old ad on tv about the hard n soft shell tacos? lololol

Re: Spud Buds!

Scallop potatoes @Jynx are finely sliced potatoes cooked in mix of milk, cream, cheese and herbs. Similar to potatoes au gratin. Nice with vegies and roast meat. Pic below

potato cakes are also known as potato fritters, potato scallops.

@Jynx

I love potatoes in all their forms. They are called potato scallops here in WA.

The best form of potato is what I call cheesy potato. You peel and slice lots of potatoes. Boil until almost tender. Drain and cool. Then line a baking dish with a layer of potatoes, pour over a little cream, sprinkle with grated cheese and grated parmesan . Then repeat all the layers a bunch of times. Finish on a cheese and parmesan layer. Put in the oven until the top is golden brown. I only have this as a Christmas treat because it’s too yummy and fattening.
