Anyone want to catch-up? Join here

Hello Forums Fam,

I thought I'd make this space for everyone to connect tonight. We can sit back and relax around the campfire!

My niece @Shaz51 ?

I don't know what she likes.. she likes fruit? She likes pink. But I don't know actual 'things' that she likes.

Oh, I know! She LOVES earlobes! She always sits there and plays with my earlobes! I hate it!

@Till23 Yeah it’s just learning new unit and streets nearby. It’s the same bus to the train and shopping strip and only 3 stops to train so that's really good. I’m really lucky got a place in same suburb was looking at 20 different suburbs going to so many inspections. I had to compromise there was no choice in that. I’m gonna need to be careful in the unit and it’s in a block so got to really be careful of cars too. But I’m so very grateful because being on the streets would have been very dangerous and so I’m thinking I will do my best even if it isn’t very accessible. It’s more accessible than previous places so that’s good. I’m really really happy to be in the same suburb. I didn’t think I would be so it’s a really big relief because my guide dog and I know the area and I’m close to the train and all my specialists too.

I feel sad for everyone else still looking. Really breaks my heart this rental and housing crisis. So many vulnerable people it’s just not fair.

Thank you for all the support you’ve given me. It really helped me get through the agony of looking and the fear thwt I’d be homeless.

How is your evening? Anything planned?

That will be nice @Shaz51 do you do multiple plantings in one pot or usually one plant per pot

One plant per pot @Till23

My dalahias plants are not doing well after the naughty caterpillars eating them

Oh I'm really glad you got to be in the same suburb then @Cuddlebear it's sounds like it's pretty ideal. Also less retraining for you and Wilbur.

I might be misunderstanding this but is the new place in a block of units and you will need to negotiate stairs? Or are there other accessibility issues?

I can not imagine being on the streets at my age now (not that i'm that old, but in 60s), although I know many people are. I have had very short-term homelessness and I mostly had my car to live in, so that was a bit safer. But to have other physical difficulties and having to look after a dog on the streets, it's beyond comprehension that this situation can be happening in this country.

I suppose you are busy packing now.

This evening I am stressing over my sport comp on the weekend, because last night I found out I have a bit of a lead role in the team so I'm stressing about Not Being Good Enough.

But when you compare that to insecure housing it's nothing

I have been busy, which is a way I manage my MH. I had a bit of a downward spiral a couple of weeks ago and so I have managed that by over-filling my time :face_with_rolling_eyes:, but for now it is probably an OK strategy

My dahlia is not doing well @Shaz51 because it never stops raining here. It was overcast today but no rain until just now and suppose to rain for another week!

Re: Anyone want to catch-up? Join here

@Till23 @Yes it’s a block of units with stairs and long driveway with lots of cars and not much space. The inside has terrible lighting and the kitchen oven is going to be hard to learn to operate. It’s old one with no texture on dial and no idea how I’m going to use it but I’ll figure it out.

Having gotten to know you online I really thing YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH. I totally understand feeling daunted by a leadership role however you’ve got all the qualities of an awesome leader and you will do a fantastic job. You’ve also played the sport before with your team and they have put you in this role because you have the skills to lead them on the weekend. Which sport do you play?

From everything I’ve learned being busy can really help keep our brains focus on the tasks / activity rather than spending many hours going over doom scenarios or telling us that we are not good enough. It’s really good you can tell when there’s a down spiral and can occupy yourself with tasks, work or activities you enjoy.

Re: Anyone want to catch-up? Join here

I'm sure you've already tried this @Cuddlebear, but can Vision Australia help with some things to "convert" the oven to have textured controllers? Sounds like you might need to invest in some lamps and have LED or halogen bulbs in them. Wilbur will help you with cars in driveway although not being a main road it will be a bit random for him as well.

I don't want to say what my sport is because it is not a popular one and to preserve anonymity I think it best not to say. If I mention I went overseas or am going to state comp, it can kind of narrow it down a bit. Thank you for your support, I am too terrible with some leadership, but this weekend will be a skill thing and I'm fairly new at it (Like for example, if I played soccer and I was going to be the goalkeeper at my first big match - that is kind of what I will be doing on the weekend - I'm thinking there's probably more experienced "goal keepers" in NSW.)

Yes, I have always managed my MH with activity, but I know I need new strategies because as I get older busy won't always be an option. However, I am just about to get involved in a lived experience role to add to my business 😂

I hope packing is not too daunting and chat later
