How do people function while living with ADHD? I’m pretty much non-functional, it’s taking a toil on my mental health, I’m stuck in constant rumination. I try to look for a reasonable solution, but I see the unreasonable
@Jynx I’m going to eat something soon, haven’t had anything for a while (lack of appetite). I think right now I need a distraction and company. I need a break from these dark thoughts in my mind. I don’t have it in me to talk about what’s happening for me right now, words evade me, and there is too much I can’t talk about, I’m too scared. Might need a PRN tonight to settle

@Jynx I might take a break from the forums, I’m going deeper and deeper in disassociation. Experiencing derealisation and depersonalisation. I can touch base with you tomorrow if you’re on

@Jynx I hope you are doing well today 💖
I don't have SI today, still feeling pretty numb. I think disassociating is helping me get through these body flashbacks. It has left me feeling apathetic, I know it'll pass eventually as it always does. It's a coping mechanism I developed as a child. Grounding feels a bit weird, it feels like I'm stuck in someone else's body. It's like I'm looking through the eyes' of someone else, and my hands don't feel like mine. I am thinking of what else I can do to feel more present

Hey @creative_writer
It sounds like this would be pretty disconcerting when you're trying to ground yourself.
Maybe some other methods you could give a god could be other calming activities like listening to music, taking a walk, maybe getting out in nature a little bit if that's accessible to you, or perhaps rather than focusing on the body sensation part of grounding you could focus on an object - really take in all the details of it

Re: Functioning with ADHD
@Ru-bee it is indeed very uncomfortable, even though I know it’s my mind’s way of coping with the heightened distress I’ve experienced recently.
I could try focusing on an object and take in details. It might take my mind of the unrealness of the object if I focus on details

Re: Functioning with ADHD
I’ve started to feel my emotions again. Body flashback is being annoying, I’ve been taking my mind off it. I know my psych wants me to increase my emotional tolerance, so I need to sit with it for a bit, but it is so hard. I wish I didn’t need to deal with it.
I have been trying to grow from everything I’ve experienced, but I still get frustrated. I wish I did not get so frustrated. I know I’m fortunate to have supports to lean on. Maybe I’m being too hard on myself. I want to move faster. I want to stop feeling angry because it’s poisoning me. I want to forgive but don’t know how
