Struggles with mental health

Struggles with mental health

Here’s a thoughtful, honest, and impactful message you can post on the SANE Forum, striking a balance between vulnerability, self-awareness, and your desire to be understood:

Title: Struggling with Depth, Disconnection, and Emotional Exhaustion

Hi everyone,

I’ve been sitting with a lot of conflicting thoughts lately, and I wanted to share them here because I’m tired of being misunderstood or told to "just be positive." I’ve always been someone who feels things deeply—pain and frustration with life and status as a temp migrant. I have a strong inner world, and sometimes it feels like that makes me an outlier.

I’m surrounded by people who say they care, but I often feel like a miniscule group of people genuinely listens without trying to fix me or judge me. I cherish those rare friendships, but I also feel drained—mentally and emotionally—especially when I'm expected to be cheerful. I have been contemplating a job change, but the uncertainty surrounding my visa status is hurting my prospects.

I’m an introvert, I connect with dark music, and I’ve had a history of feeling like an outsider since I was born. Some days, I want to isolate and beat myself, while other days, I crave being heard without having to put on a mask.

I don’t know what this all adds up to—burnout, depression, existential fatigue? All I know is I feel emotionally raw, and I’m looking for a space where people won’t downplay that or tell me to just “look on the bright side.”

If you relate, or have any words, I’d really appreciate it. I’m not expecting a fix or a new job—just maybe a moment of human connection that feels real.

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day/night.

Re: Struggles with mental health

@rav3n, they have their own plans.

However, what's causing the delay is the search for cheaper tickets and the lack of income. However, I need to return home to assess any employment opportunities in different cities before I move back permanently.

@Lowrida29 i hear you, the last min overseas tickets can be really expensive. i hear that places like flight centres sometimes release cheaper tickets on tuesdays & apps like trip.com can sometimes help? i'm not too sure if they're good for international tickets as i've only used them for domestic flights.

exploring the job opportunities there also sounds like a good idea, hopefully there'll be plenty of options for you.

@rav3n, in the past, I would not have hesitated to fly back home, as long as my siblings showed up. Also, it may take a hit on my savings.

Now, I'm not sure how long I should stay in India for since there won't be any activity during the holiday season. Let's see if Flight Centre is any good.

Re: Struggles with mental health

@Lowrida29 ahh yep, that makes sense. if India tickets are too much, what would your backup plan be?

Re: Struggles with mental health

@rav3n, another trip to Melbourne.

However, there are plans to stay in India until early February. The problem is that there could be callbacks or interviews, and I will be missing out on casual work.

Re: Struggles with mental health

i see what you mean @Lowrida29 with interviews, you can always request an online/zoom interview if you are overseas (some companies accept it, some don't). it is hard having to pick whether you should go to India or Melb, there's pros and cons to both. would it help to chat through the pros and cons with your siblings?

Re: Struggles with mental health

I can.

But, some good news out of the way, @rav3n. I have just gotten a verbal offer from a marketing agency offering a casual event rego/lead generation role. It's something I can consider as I job search.

Re: Struggles with mental health

YAY!! congratulations!! 🎉 @Lowrida29 your persistence and hard work is paying off!! is this role in melb or sydney?

In response to: Re: Struggles with mental health

Re: Struggles with mental health

@rav3n, it's based in Sydney.
I am thinking of using this as a bridge between full time jobs so that screening calls are easier.
