Struggles with mental health

Here’s a thoughtful, honest, and impactful message you can post on the SANE Forum, striking a balance between vulnerability, self-awareness, and your desire to be understood:

Title: Struggling with Depth, Disconnection, and Emotional Exhaustion

Hi everyone,

I’ve been sitting with a lot of conflicting thoughts lately, and I wanted to share them here because I’m tired of being misunderstood or told to "just be positive." I’ve always been someone who feels things deeply—pain and frustration with life and status as a temp migrant. I have a strong inner world, and sometimes it feels like that makes me an outlier.

I’m surrounded by people who say they care, but I often feel like a miniscule group of people genuinely listens without trying to fix me or judge me. I cherish those rare friendships, but I also feel drained—mentally and emotionally—especially when I'm expected to be cheerful. I have been contemplating a job change, but the uncertainty surrounding my visa status is hurting my prospects.

I’m an introvert, I connect with dark music, and I’ve had a history of feeling like an outsider since I was born. Some days, I want to isolate and beat myself, while other days, I crave being heard without having to put on a mask.

I don’t know what this all adds up to—burnout, depression, existential fatigue? All I know is I feel emotionally raw, and I’m looking for a space where people won’t downplay that or tell me to just “look on the bright side.”

If you relate, or have any words, I’d really appreciate it. I’m not expecting a fix or a new job—just maybe a moment of human connection that feels real.

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day/night.

All the best with it - hope you get a role @Lowrida29 - if that's what you want.

As for chatting to parents, do you mean your parents or any parents?

Re: Struggles with mental health

Thanks, @tyme. I just want a job to keep myself sane

I meant my parents.

Any progress? @Lowrida29

Re: Struggles with mental health

@tyme, I had a chat with my father earlier today, and he suggested writing down my plans on a piece of paper for reference.

Other than that, I'm trying to balance between applications and my personal portfolio.

Re: Struggles with mental health

For me, this is how I do it:

1) I apply

2) If i get to interview stage, it means my application was adequate

3) if I don't get an interview, it means i need to work on my application

With every application, I always include a letter and responses to selection criteria.

Then again, you've got a interview coming for that open role, right? @Lowrida29

Re: Struggles with mental health

@tyme, I did a screening call for an open role earlier this week. So, there could be an interview depending on the hiring managers thoughts.

While I understand your thought process, I guess tailoring a resume to the job application, and adding more personal projects are ways to fulfill different applications and complement work experience in tech.

Hi @rav3n,

I am good. I am still sending out applications to various companies, and am trying to broaden my search.

How about you?

Re: Struggles with mental health

that's good to hear @Lowrida29 have you been taking breaks to catch up with friends or do things you enjoy too?

i'm good, i've started writing applications for further studies. i forgot how long it takes to do them! one down, another 6 more to go! i also started listening to audiobooks again so hopefully i'll be consistent and actually finish a book!

Re: Struggles with mental health

@rav3n, although I have a family visit planned for next month, I wish I had given myself some time to reach out to some friends for advice and support. Furthermore, the weather has been atrocious for hiking lately.

I am glad you are pursuing further studies. Audiobooks can take a while to sit through, but, I suggest you listen to chapters to get the feel.
