Managing thoughts of suicide & self-harm

Isolated, alone and lonely.

Isolated, alone and lonely.

I need to be honest about where I’m at right now. I’m struggling, and I feel incredibly isolated. Since most of my support funding ended abruptly, I’ve felt a growing sense of disconnection like I’ve quietly slipped through the cracks. Not only has my supports stoppwd abruptly, my Mum moved 3 hours away 2 weeks ago and Dad 4 hours last week. My Twin lives an hour away and I have no car to go visit them. I have no friends close by - I feel invisible.

The emotional weight of this has been really heavy. I feel broken, dysfunctional, and stuck in what often feels like an internal hell. Day by day, I’m doing my best to stay afloat, but it's been incredibly hard to keep going. My suicidal thoughts are increasing to the point where I'm planning. All I do is lay in bed and work when I can (work is a distraction as I am a cleaner).

A traumatic event happened to me 4 months ago and I my head is constantly telling me no one believes me. Ive had no support from this event, im on the waitlist for an organisation to call. I’m trying I really am, but even with those small steps, I still feel desperately alone and unsure of what to do. I'm trying to be honest about how I’m feeling for once, I just want to feel supported, seen, and understood, believed.

Thanks for reading/listening

Mel

Hi @MotherDuck

I hope you pop in in the morning. I’ve just read your posts and am thinking of you. Getting to here and where you are has taken so much strength and courage and I feel privileged to be able to hear your story. I am so sorry to hear how alone you have felt with your mum and twin far away, and disconnected from anyone close by. Disconnection hurts.
I wish you well, and would love to hear about your nephew, or

anything at all you might be up

for chatting about in the morning.

I know @tyme and @AuntGlow have reached out with resources.
You matter. I hope you can make a hot drink, read this, and say hello tomorrow.

Re: Isolated, alone and lonely.

Morning and hello @AuntGlow , @tyme , @Semly

I'm here and I'm so very sorry to have you worried. I'm drinking a hot coffee this morning as I read this. I have my first one on one councelling session this morning - I just had to get out of bed and shower for my 9am but I'm everything feels really hard.

My apt is 9-10 and then I have to figure out activities to do to keep my mind at bay - I have no work today and usually when I go in for 5-6 hours it's a holiday for my head, I'm so focused on the physical work I do that it's a reprieve but when I have days off, they are the hardest as it's just me at home. I am a coparent effective 8 weeks ago, to this cute little fluff ball named Max.... I know he needs to be cared for (walked, fed etc), and I'm trying really really hard to be there for him. I might take him for a big walk after my apt.

Having you all here is making me feel just maybe a little less lonely, I appreciate you all

Mel

Good morning @MotherDuck,

I m so glad to hear from you this morning. I, too have been struggling- but I guess a silver lining is that, becuase I’m struggling, I was wandering through the forums last night and saw your post.

You’re probably at or nearly beginning your counselling session now.
I hope it goes really well.

Walking with Max sounds like a really goood plan. Maybe you could take a pic of something pretty it interesting on your walk and share it here?

I loved hearing about you morning coffee - such a sensory thing to share when we’re all just typed words in this space.

Thanks for your company.

Re: Isolated, alone and lonely.

I've never really thought to ever jump on here for support, I'm so glad I did. Even just sharing this photo of Max it's really making me feel like there is someone that cares.

I've just made myself a nice hot coffee again and will take this one for a walk shortly.

Thanks @Shaz51 @Tolly, he is a pretty cool dude . I'm not long awake, trouble sleeping. I'm trying really hard not to skin pick/self harm this morning, I'm going to make a coffee and hope someone is on here maybe we can talk about something else. I don't know, I'm terrible at this

Gorgeous dog @MotherDuck

it can be quiet on the forums. When I first joined years ago I waited a long time for responses. It took a while to feel a sense of belonging. In this world of instant communication it can feel like we are missing out, but not everyone online feels up for always giving support. The community has grown organically in a way… so please be patient with us. I have had trouble feeling comfortable in my skin, and gave up and became a dreadful nail biter. I have kind of relaxed and allowed myself to do that, as I well know worse behaviours. I need to go do my physio. Being grounded in one body is essential.

hope your walk and coffee was good.
