My life sucks

My life sucks

And I have no hope that it’ll get better, despite being told by everyone that spoken to that it would. But I know for a fact that it won’t, not even in decades time.

Re: My life sucks

@Cuddlebear ugh!! That’s so frustrating that they’re not being helpful for you, I’m very sorry about that. 😞 when I first contacted the housing office last year (it was at a different location when I permanently lived with my parents at the time) the lady on the phone I spoke to at that time was the rudest person I’ve spoken to my whole life, her tone was literally just full on being aggressive and it got me extremely angry and upset so I decided to end the conversation with her right away. Like that’s not how employees should talk to their customers… 🤦‍♀️ like the ones at the housing office (the one near where I currently live at now) that I currently spoke to seem ok from my experience

I know how useless these services can be, and that’s why it’ll always make me anxious and nervous whenever I do need to either phone them or go up to them in person because of the poor service they give to the vulnerable citizens, when they should actually provide care and support for them. 😒

Re: My life sucks

@Blackcloud I hear you. The staff at my local office are rude and make you feel awful if you have to go there or call. They treat vulnerable people in a really bad way. I feel so rubbish every time I have to make any contact. They shouldn’t be like that at all. It creates a terrible experience for all of us. There’s just no need for that hateful treatment.

Im glad though that where you go now is better.

Re: My life sucks

@Cuddlebear exactly, and lately I’ve been thinking about the rise of cost of living that’s going on right now & with the social housing vs private rental situation that I’ve been thinking of, I wonder if I’d be able to choose a private rental option whenever it gets to a point that I can’t live in a student accomodation anymore, in cases of if I graduated from uni, but that’ll be in years time so… I don’t know much about private rental since I’ve never lived in one myself, but from what I’ve researched it seems that living in a social housing is more affordable and sustainable, but even with social housing that requires you to wait for many many years… it’s a complicated situation and choices to make considering what the market is like right now, and that’s the main part of why we’re all broken emotionally and mentally. I hate how society right now and the government is treating us.

i don’t know anymore…😒💀

Re: My life sucks

@Blackcloud It is very very hard for access to private rental or public housing. I’m on public housing priority waiting list have been on it for years. I’m in private rental. We got a notice to vacate and now I’m facing being homeless. We are looking but no one is giving us a property and there are very very few private rentals thwt are affordable. At inspections heaps of families go. I had contacted the Department of Housing saying that we have to vacate the private rental and that we could be homeless. I wanted to know if they could find a place for us considering I’ve been in waiting list. They were pretty rude and couldn’t help saying that they don’t have a property to offer. The local housing service for those who might become homeless was pretty useless too. They said they don’t even have emergency accomodation for disabled people like me. I’m terrified I’ll be on the street and I don’t have any savings or anyone to stay with. I’m feeling awful and I’m really vulnerable. I just don’t know what to do. 😞

Re: My life sucks

@Cuddlebear I don't know what else to really say or help with, but I completely feel you about this and I hope you know that I'm always here. ❤️ I'm also scared and worried on what my future's gonna be like after I graduate from uni, but at the same time I like to hope that I'd be able to have money to afford for private rental (or whatever it can be)... I don't want to go back to live with my parents in their social housing apartment because I don't have a good relationship with them and my sister.

This might be a weird question if you don't mind me asking, but if you do have to end up facing homelessness, is there a way you can like afford a tent or a van/caravan to stay at? I was watching a couple of youtube videos of people staying in their vans, cars and it was quite interesting to look at, seeing what they do in there and stuff.

and this may or may not be a helpful suggestion, but you can also contact lifeline (phone or chat) if you're going through a crisis, if you're comfortable of course. 🙂 I'm about to volunteer as a crisis supporter over there soon, and from what I know, lifeline only focuses on the feelings you're having, as well as what things have helped you or not in the past and present, and if necessary we do give referrals only if the help seeker (you) themselves want to get referrals. we don't provide counselling/therapy which can be pretty weird for people that are willing to seek counselling/therapy help, we are just there to provide help seekers (including you) support and be there for you guys that are going through a crisis.

Re: My life sucks

@MissGremlin I low-key wanna go to the gym but I’m pretty hesitant to cause the gym is very small and usually in the evening there’s a few or more people in there so 😭 and I hate how working out makes you get sweat ugh 😣

Also am worrying about the future in terms of if I need to end up finding a private rental housing by the time I can’t live in a student accomodation anymore and who knows when that’s gonna happen. I’ve applied for social housing but that obviously takes years…

Re: My life sucks

@MissGremlin Not to mention, I hate how having anxiety keeps on making me having the urge to hold back on certain things 😒😒 when I really shouldn’t be feeling that way 😒😒😔

I’m just too tired

Re: My life sucks

@Blackcloud maybe you could go to the gym and see how busy it is? If there's too many people then you don't have to stay if it's too much for you. The sweating part definitely sucks.

I understand worrying about the future but you are doing everything you can to make sure you have stable accommodation. I think right now it's more about focusing on what's happening soon and in the near future. Thinking too far ahead can just make us even more overwhelmed, so let's just take it one step at a time.
