Talking through trauma and PTSD

Tillogram

Tillogram

I am wondering if anyone has any strategies that have helped them to banish the “Not Good Enough” thoughts.

It is apparently a common problem for those with childhood trauma (likely other things as well).

I think I try pretty hard to surmount this feeling. I have completed university degrees, I have worked pretty much continuously from age 14yo. I try to participate in sport and different other activities. I volunteer.

Maybe “doing things” is not the correct strategy (although it does act as a distraction).

I still think I am not good enough.

Yep! I looked it up @Shaz51 🙂 What colours will yours be? Will it be a mystery?

Aw @Till23, that's so nice of you!! Thank you.

Also, very lucky for me - I will be here on Sunday too hehe 💅

I shall respond properly then, I hope you have a lovely night. ✨

Re: Not Good Enough

Thanks @AuntGlow. I will look forward to chatting to you on Sunday.

@tyme I guess I started this as sort of a thread, I sort of wanted a bit of a safe place to discuss CSA and the sequelae and I have been pretty vulnerable on here. I deliberately try to mask my posts by writing benign stuff in the first two lines so it's not to be interesting to others so they scroll past.

Anyhow, I'm probably a bit tense because I'm about to go away and I don't really want to start new conversations because I will feel some pressure to be supportive.

Sorry @Till23. I just saw the thread name and it really resonated. Thanks for being honest about what you need.

I might see you on some other threads. 🌿

Re: Not Good Enough

No problem at all @Semly you were tagged on to it by someone else so you were probably just following the tag. I suppose I am feeling a bit stressed at the moment because I am about to go away and I'm kind of trying to ease myself off the forums.

I don't really want to start a new conversation and leave it up in the air when I'm gone. I've been going through and letting the people I feel I have made a connection with know I am going away, so they don't feel like I'm ignoring them or something.

A good place to start though after the Welcome and Get Started space, is the Social Space to get to know people or start your own thread which you might have done already,

I think I might have chatted to you on the sunday night social chat though.

Re: Not Good Enough

Thanks @Till2,
Nah, I’ll haven’t been at the big social chats. I just found my own way here as I saw the thread in the recent discussion lineup.
Yeah, I might head to the ‘new here’ end of things.

Will be a mystery @tyme

The seeds were a assortment so it will be a surprise 😊

Re: Not Good Enough

Hi @tyme I'm not sure who's on this afternoon/evening but I think you might be at least one of the mods today. I've been pretty busy today trying to get myself organised. I'm just writing because I feel as though I may have made a bit of a stuff up late yesterday.

It has been worrying me and I had difficulty sleeping last night.

I was sort of hoping to just quietly leave for my holiday and was letting people I felt I had connected with know. I'm fairly stressed about having all my ducks in a row for going away. The anxiety about the trip and preparation is pretty high.

I think I might have offended a newish forum member, because I didn't want to start any new conversations and spend time on them when I was going away. I feel selfish now. Turns out I spent more time worrying about it than I would have if I'd just had the conversation. Thanks for reading
