Talking through trauma and PTSD

Tillogram

Tillogram

I am wondering if anyone has any strategies that have helped them to banish the “Not Good Enough” thoughts.

It is apparently a common problem for those with childhood trauma (likely other things as well).

I think I try pretty hard to surmount this feeling. I have completed university degrees, I have worked pretty much continuously from age 14yo. I try to participate in sport and different other activities. I volunteer.

Maybe “doing things” is not the correct strategy (although it does act as a distraction).

I still think I am not good enough.

Re: Not Good Enough

That's completely ok @tyme I understand that you can only respond when you are on shift. How are you going? I think you are soloing this evening so you must be wearing the fingerprints off your fingers 😂.

I think I tagged you on that day, but it was late in to your shift, so probably didn't get to it before you left.

I am going to try to be fully present when I am away I am going to some historic and beautiful places. The sport part will be hard, because it's an endurance event but the location is amazing and I want to be completely immersed in it and not worrying if I'm letting my team mates down etc. After that is a holiday part again amazing places we are going so I want to just be able to take it in, without the negative voices spoiling it.

I doubt I'll be able to get on the forums while I'm away because of data usage.

I feel as though my heart is stone cold. I have been told that before. So I don't think it's actually my superpower.

Probably my last day on forums will be Sunday

No worries at all hun @Till23

No, I'm not solo. I've got a lovely pal on with me.

I really hope this trip does a lot of refreshing for you. It sounds tough though. I totally get if you can't ba on the forums. You can also turn your forums notifications off while you are away if you want.

Yes, I totally understand if you want to soak in the beauty of where you are. It sounds like an amazing opportunity. I also love how your describe your connection with land and water. I learn so much from you.

Take care, my friend.

Re: Not Good Enough

@Shaz51 things are a tad challenging at the moment, but I'm muddling through.

And you're right...what's that saying? It's only two weeks between a bad and a good hair cut? Something like that.

Heya @Shaz51 @NightFury @Semly ,

Good thing with hair is that it grows lol... even when it doesn't look good, you can do something about it.

I don't even know how to say this more.. I love this community and all the experiences and stories people share here 🙂

Re: Not Good Enough

@Till23 Good evening, wonderful human!

I know this is your last night with us before you go off on your big adventure. I am wishing you so much joy and exploration as you travel. Remember that everything you feel is allowed and everything you feel has a purpose - maybe you could turn to that sense of curiosity when they do arise? Knowing that you are safe and knowing that we are always here to turn to. 💕

I completely get needing to know what comes next. It sounds like planning as best as you can will be your friend.

I hear where you are coming from and I have no doubt you will create a comfortable space for others, however, your comfort matters too! So please try to listen to what you need and say 'no' whenever it feels necessary. (I know this is a lot easier said than done, but I am still going to encourage you to do so as much as I can.)

Honestly, I wish you could too - but knowing how much it means to you is more than enough information for us to be utterly supportive!

Not weird at all, I do the same with mine. ☺️

I am so excited for you!! I will be here when you get back and can't wait to hear all about it - the ups and the downs. You've got this. 💪💛
