Daily goals, motivation and check in

Daily goals, motivation and check in

I'm starting this discussion as a place where we can set our goals daily, help motivate each other to do them and then check in with how we went. It's a place to celebrate when we achieve them or just sit with each other if we didnt and are feeling down about it. Hopefully with encouragement and support from each other we'll tick lots of boxes for our daily goals and feel good about it. Please join in. 😊

Hello @Shaz51, I'm good and hope you are too 🙂 I had to have a bit of a fight with my generator today - Ho Hum, Winter brings out all the energy challenges for me :l I use it for my washing machine and the my Forum friends helped with the necessary motivation to wash clothes . . . but first I had to get the generator going! 😉 So I fuelled it up and pulled the cord - nothing; so I removed the spark plug (which was very dirty), cleaned it, and put it back in and pulled the cord - nothing, so I pulled the air filter apart, clean the foam filling, waited for it to dry, put it back together, pulled the cord - nothing; so I resorted to the last trick I know, remove the bolt/plug at the bottom of the fuel bowl (that proved to be particularly difficult, as I must have done it up too tight the last time I did it, and it took ages to get the right spanner, at the right angle, using the right swear words, to get it to budge! :D), put the bolt/plug back in and - Wa La. I did some washing 🙂 😄

Hope your feeling well and had a few smiles today. I'm heading off to bed now, Good night Shaz 🙂

Hello @Former-Member 🙂 Well done with the painting. I've got a whole house to paint inside, and I don't like the boring grey on the outside so wouldn't mind re-painting it one day. If only there was a day in the week called 'Oneday', might give me some motivation to actually do it 🙂

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

Hi all. I've been away from this thread (one of my favourites on the forum) for the past week while my 82 year old mother was visiting from interstate. She went back today after an extremely challenging week for me, but one which saw us bonding strongly over tears, hugs, love, laughter and lots of manic conversations (Mum's style).

My next big challenge is to get through the next 10 days preparing for and enduring multiple flat inspections for seven days from this Friday. That's because the rental place we are living in is being sold. So I'm getting in early to type out a 'to do' list for cleaning work I have to get through tomorrow. My day needs to go something like this:

  • wake, breakfast, first meds
  • wash and dress
  • make bed
  • water pot plants (neglected over past hectic week)
  • bring in clean washing that is still on line
  • put away clean washing
  • do all dirty washing, probably 2-3 loads
  • hang out washing
  • clean ensuite thoroughly
  • clean desk area and bookshelves
  • clean back courtyard, including mopping where needed

I think that will be enough (by my standards) for one day!

Hope the day treats all here well.

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

Have got through all of my tasks for today, except cleaning ensuite. It makes more sense to do that tomorrow so that it is as clean as possible for first inspections on Friday. Instead, I also did these things not on my list:

  • dusted the living room all over (needed it!)
  • gave the living room a general neatening up
  • got up and dusted the ceiling fan in my bedroom.

Things for tomorrow:

  • wake, breakfast, first meds
  • wash and dress
  • bring in clean washing from the line
  • put away clean washing
  • dust bedroom all over (needs it!)
  • put on clean sheet, pillowcases and doona cover
  • thoroughly clean kitchen
  • vacuum whatever rooms still need it
  • clean ensuite
  • final neaten up of anything that needs doing
  • shower.

I might get some of these jobs done still today so there's not so much tomorrow. Then I'm going to stay with a friend on Thursday night and Friday during the day. This is so that I don't have to be at home for the inspections. Not being there to experience it is a coping strategy for reducing my stress and anxiety over people coming into my private space.
