Welcome and getting started

Husband killed

Husband killed

My husband was killed in a road accident. We were together 45 years. I am so lonely all the time. I honestly only have 2 people I can call as my friends. The biggest problem now is my daughter has contacted the driver who's brakes failed and consequently killed my husband. She reached out to them shortly after he died q0 months ago. But now I've found out they have become really good friends. I can't get my head around why??? I feel betrayed. I don't want to loose my daughter but it's accepting what she is doing by talking to them. Any ideas how I move on from this. Thank you

Re: Husband killed

Hello @Widowed. I'm so sorry for your loss, I can't imagine the pain you must be feeling and how lonely it must be without your husband. I hear that you are feeling betrayed by your daughter having made contact with the driver and becoming friends with them. Have you been able to talk to your daughter about how it's making you feel that she is having contact with the driver? Maybe she can help you understand the reason as to why she is having contact with them. I know it mustn't be easy, and there's nothing that can bring your husband back.

I hear you say the drivers brakes failed which is what consequently lead to the tragic accident, I know you have lost your husband and that's heartbreaking. I can also imagine that the driver whose breaks failed would be feeling guilty and having to accept the fact that they have been involved in an accident where someone has lost their life.

We are here for you and you are not alone, sending you gentle hugs ❤️

@Widowed there are no adequate words for this loss and grief.

Thank you for reaching out. You aren’t alone we are here for you.

How is your sleep?

I’m going to tag a couple of friends who are far more eloquent than I am and better at communicating.

Hi @Widowed

I can’t imagine the pain you must be feeling having lost your beloved life partner. I don’t know what I would do in your situation. I am so sorry for your loss. I understand that loss and grief is so overwhelming. I hope that you can move through the stages of grief and not get stuck there. I don’t know what the answer is with your daughter. The only thing you can do is to speak with her. Be honest about how what she is doing is making you feel. It sounds like no one was responsible for the loss of your husband. It was mechanical failure and was probably traumatic for the other driver as well. I hope that you will forgive them and move on somehow. Hugs to you x

Yes I've talked to my daughter. She reached out because she too also felt that he was having such a hard time with the fact he killed someone. She is such a caring person.

Hi dear. i'm so very sorry to hear about the the loss in your life. Loosing a partner of 45 years must be terrible, my partner is almost 43 year with me, but i cannot imagination loosing her.

My deepest condolence to you.

(About finding it hard to sleep. i found sleeping tablets useful for sleeping but not helpful the day after, feeling all groggy and numb in the head, hard to work things out that way.

Using hops i found to be very helpful. For it reduces anxiety, as well as stress, and induces sleep. At stressful times i take 1/2 sleeping tablet, and two hop tablets, to be able to get some proper sleep.)

Much love working through this terrible loss.

@Widowed I'm glad you have talked to your daughter and it sounds like she is a very caring person. It sounds like what happened was really a tragic accident and noones fault as such which i know can have its own frustrations.

It's important to take care of yourself and to get support if you feel you need it. We all grieve in different ways and there's no right or wrong way to feel while you are going through this. We are always here to support you however we can ❤️.

How have things been? Are you finding the going harder now than then at first? i have heard of many people grieving loved ones worse, some time after the loss, rather than straight after. Has that been true for you?

Hoping you are okay?
