I have no friends or family
I feel so alone. I have no friends or family. How do you create real friendships. I feel like people don't like me but I don't know why.

I feel like giving up instead. Maybe I am not worthy of love and friendship.

Hi @Lite
Welcome to the Sane forums.
I'm sorry to hear about your mum.
I can totally relate to your concerns.
I have no friends at all. No one that would reach out to me and ask me how I was, or do you want to catch up, or ring me just because, etc. I don't know if it's just me, or my mental health issues or maybe I'm just not meant to have any.
The only people I associate with is my husbands friends and even then I struggle to talk to them. Even then, not one of them would ever seek me out.
The only place I really have friends is on here. I know it's not the same as in real life, but I guess it's better than nothing. At least on here people can understand me. At least on here I have someone to talk too.
I'm not sure if this helps at all but I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone.
Snowie xoxo

Hello @Lite
My condolences on the loss of your mother. Such a deep connection would be very hard to replace but I trust you meet people who'll accept you for who you are - like people on these forums.
Homelessness too. I hope you've found shelter. Once settled it might be easier to reach out.. that's the catch, you need friends now. Perhaps Ask Izzy can help.
I'm glad you reached out here. Best wishes.

Hello @Lite
I am glad some people came by your thread. I found this forum helpful to keep me going and practice learning to socialise. Finding a way to be genuinely ourselves and social is not something I could take for granted. I too felt unworthy of friends and family and love. I have also been homeless so I know life is tough on the streets. Take care of you and maybe checking in... And gradually getting to know people will help break the isolation. Also I feel socialising is like exercise we need to keep it up. Welcome to the forum

Thanks I have a place to live now so I have sorted that issue.
Now I want to make real friendships in real life but I don't know how or where to go.
I've tried doing things, like attending social things, but I never seem to make friends out of it.

Maybe a hobby group would work out better @Lite . I'm isolated too but am limited by transport and anxiety.

Any opportunties with your local council or library @Lite ? My local council and library run a lot of different groups e.g. exercise, craft, gardening, coffee groups.

@Lite glad your housing is sorted. I have been too much of a people pleaser in the past and very needy. I still believe social ethics are important but I am learning to be more unapologetically myself recently. Its weird my personality is changing a little. More outward going with energy. Finding my funny bone.
Yes we all know that to join groups, but the click of finding friends can be elusive. It is important not to sacrifice yourself in the friendship. It's an experiment. Always learning....
