Crying in the early hours of the morning

Crying in the early hours of the morning

Why is the human mind so powerful and why is peri-menpause such a roller coaster?

Two mornings in a row I've woken up crying. Couldn't work out why until I realised that it could be hormonal and the fact that for me and my partners upcoming trip to Brisbane none of my side of the family are able to put us up for the two nights (they'll be out of town), and that any accommodation suggestions I make to my partner he just ignores them and says he is going to do 'wing it' in relation to accommodation. His aim when he is there is to go to a Bank note and Coin Collection Expo and that I would be spending that same day with my sister sightseeing.

He asked me where was my sister meeting me and I said that it would be at whatever accommodation that we would be staying at. Then he chimes in that he is going to 'wing it' with accommodation.

I'm finding it all stressful and are considering not going and just staying home.

Plus there has been no physical intimacy between us for over a year (ie, holding hands, hugs, holding each other while lying in bed, no sex). We sleep in the same bed but what's the point?

Re: Crying in the early hours of the morning

@Carebear yes this is very common, it seems to be so easy for some people to say that they will be there for someone when they are going through a mental health crisis but to actually do it is another matter.

I'm so sorry that was said to you and it's so very degrading. I had a similar experience with an ex where I had mentioned hurting myself and he told me that if I was going to do it to do it in the bathtub so he didn't have to clean up after me. It made me feel completely worthless and like my life had no value.

There's a great community of support here which I've found so helpful for myself. There's also the option of joining some social group's in your area where you can build connections with others, if that's something you wanted to look into.

You deserve to be supported and shown kindness and compassion ❤️

@Glisten
We've been together almost 10 years.
We have a joint bank account and we also have our own separate bank accounts. I work full time and he is a full time DVA pension.

@MissGremlin
That is something that I am interested in - in joining social groups in my area to not only be supported but also be supportive of others.

@Carebear that's great that it's something you are interested in. I'm not a very social person so I avoid any group settings. But I love being able to support people on here aswell as getting support myself.

@MissGremlin

It is something I'm interested in. However, these past 3 days have shown me that no matter what tools I have in my self-help box, it doesn't matter. Especially when the mind has been so powerful that it can't see anything rationally. Yes I'm on medication and have therapy etc, but sometimes none of those things make a difference in that particular moment.

I just end up crying and crying and crying, lose my appetite and eventually go into collapse mode.

@Carebear i completely understand. It's so hard when even the self help tools don't help and your mind is thinking irrationally. I'm in that space today and it's so overwhelming. Please know that you are not alone, I'm here for you ❤️

So sorry you have to deal with this situation. Peri-menopause can be an awful time for some women and contributes to a lot of relationship breakdowns. Thank goodness we are talking about it more than years ago though.

Do you have a good GP who you can talk to or are you able to access information about menopause?

I read a lot about it and listened to podcasts which helped a lot but ultimately I had to go on hormone replacement therapy which was a lifesaver (literally). [edited by moderator]
