Managing thoughts of suicide & self-harm

Battles

Battles

Hi all, does anyone else just feel like life is just one big sh!t show? It's just one thing after another, constant drama, family issues, money struggles, stress, anxiety it's just always something.

When do things get easier, do things ever change?

I've been through more than i care to think about in my life but today has pushed me to breaking point and it's bringing up alot of bad memories of previous suicide attempts.

I just feel like it's not worth it, it's not worth fighting, not worth hanging on anymore.

Hi @MissGremlin I’m not sure if you got the message that I tagged you on this thread with just about 2 hours ago, but it seems like it got deleted or it was never properly processed.. 🤔 kinda weird that it’s not there anymore 🥲😅🤔

Edit: wait actually nevermind about it, I’m sorry, I’ll leave you alone. 🙏

Re: Battles

I know what you mean @NightFury, that voice the tells us to withdraw is so hard to ignore sometimes. The worst things feel, the louder it gets. My psychologist tells me it's like a radio station and that I may not be able to turn it off but I can turn it down so it's not as loud.

It just seems to be such a strong emotional reaction to a difficult situation. And like you said, it helps to take a bit of time to let that more rational part of our brain get some control back to make better decisions. Those initial reactions, and their decisions, can be so hard to overcome though. I'm in my mid 50s and only just starting to learn how to do it.

Those sound like really lovely ways to slow things down over the weekend. 🤗 @MissGremlin

Awwww, that must feel really nurturing. I am so glad he is feeling better, that must feel like such a huge relief.

My weekend has been good! I worked at my second job (a theatre) and saw some friends. Thank you for asking. 💕

@AuntGlow things have just escalated again for me and I'm not coping. Feeling all sorts of overwhelmed and so many other things. Feel like going through a grounding exercise with me please?

Re: Battles

Can you put on a favourite song, listen really closely, and tell me all the things you notice about the song that you like? For example, a specific lyric, harmony, or instrument? This can be a really engaging way to bring yourself back to the present. @MissGremlin ☺️

Re: Battles

Sorry @AuntGlow things got way too intense so I stepped back from here to reach out to lifeline again.

Still not in the best headspace but I'm working on it. Really just need some distraction chats now, Ive got a few messages to catch up on but not sure if it's going to overwhelm me too much.
