Managing thoughts of suicide & self-harm

Battles

Battles

Hi all, does anyone else just feel like life is just one big sh!t show? It's just one thing after another, constant drama, family issues, money struggles, stress, anxiety it's just always something.

When do things get easier, do things ever change?

I've been through more than i care to think about in my life but today has pushed me to breaking point and it's bringing up alot of bad memories of previous suicide attempts.

I just feel like it's not worth it, it's not worth fighting, not worth hanging on anymore.

Re: Battles

@NightFury he has a hole in a certain boy body part and its meant to be an urgent vet visit but I can't cover the $180 Sunday consult when tomorrow it's $90. I'm petrified of it being really serious and me losing yet another dog.

Re: Battles

@MissGremlin veterinary care is so super expensive. I can see why it would be stressing you out and raising your anxiety levels.

Can you monitor him today?

I know how hard it is when you have animals. I have a dog and she has arthritis and ends up with random limps and issues. My go to is to always monitor first because I'm in the same boat and struggle to afford vet bills.

So I'll just keep an eye on her. Look for things like...changes in her eating, in the amount of times she has to go to the toilet, signs of pain and discomfort, signs that she may be sleeping more than usual....all of those things.

Re: Battles

@NightFury yeah that's what I'm doing, I've been putting an antiseptic stuff on it to keep it clean. I spoke to the vet and even when she ended the call she said hopefully nothing goes wrong between now and tomorrow, really just made me feel so bad.

I'm doing my best with him and I keep up with council registration, vaccination etc. But when it comes to unexpected vet visits it really makes it hard and I don't qualify for their vet pay things as I'm only on DSP.

He is still his happy self, still eating, drinking, going to the toilet as normal and doesn't seem to be phased by it at all.

I just hate when something happens and you get the feelings and thoughts of why does everything always go wrong, what did I do to deserve this, why me, not again etc.

I'm building my Lego and trying to keep my mind distracted.

How's the studying going?

Re: Battles

@MissGremlin I know and sometimes it happens one thing on top of the other, which makes it harder for us to find our way clear.

You're doing a great job with him.

It's going slowly. I've just taken a break to try and light my fire - I'm freezing down to the bones - and to have some lunch. I made nachos with tomato, corn, capsicum, sour cream and avo on top.

I forgot about food and drink yesterday, so I'm making a conscious effort today.

Re: Battles

@NightFury yes that's what it's been like lately, just one thing after another and you just start to think am I ever going to catch a break.

I'm glad you are taking it slowly and happy that you have stopped for lunch and it sounds yummy. Hope your fire warms you up, the weather is definitely getting cooler.

It's so easy to forget about food and drink when there's alot going on, so well done for making that conscious effort today 😊

Re: Battles

@MissGremlin I know the feeling. I'm in that with you.

My house isn't insulated and it has these vents that lead straight into the outside. It's colder in here than what it is outside. It's not a very comfortable house to live in, but it's a roof over my head and it is what it is.

Re: Battles

@NightFury oh that sucks that it's not insulated. Hope the fire heats up quickly for you. My house is far from perfect and needs alot of work that just doesn't get done but yes I agree it's a roof over our heads and I'm grateful for that.

Re: Battles

@MissGremlin I kinda sit somewhere between gratitude, frustration, overwhelm and a kind of sadness, with it if I'm honest

Re: Battles

@NightFury completely understandable. Think I'm very much the same there.
