Managing thoughts of suicide & self-harm

Battles

Battles

Hi all, does anyone else just feel like life is just one big sh!t show? It's just one thing after another, constant drama, family issues, money struggles, stress, anxiety it's just always something.

When do things get easier, do things ever change?

I've been through more than i care to think about in my life but today has pushed me to breaking point and it's bringing up alot of bad memories of previous suicide attempts.

I just feel like it's not worth it, it's not worth fighting, not worth hanging on anymore.

Re: Battles

@NightFury you're all good. Tonight I'm here for you 😊.

That's horrible to wake up screaming, I'm really sorry to hear.

I don't have favourite things so this could be tricky. But I can give you some things I like. I like colouring, I enjoy Disney movies, I like all colours the brighter the better, I love animals, I enjoy going for long drives.

Re: Battles

@MissGremlin long drive...me too.

Long drives on warm days with cruising tunes on and the windows wound down, arm on the windowsill and no sense of hurry or time.

Vanilla ice cream, all melted, with Milo mixed in.

When my dog first wakes up of a morning and she lays across me. She's not a small dog so it's both uncomfortable and heavy, but anchors that waking moment.

My niece when she says, I love you. Her little voice and the mixed up words, she can't quite pronounce yet.

My dread locks, and the way that they make me feel - empowered almost. They were a statement at the time (I will not be a triangle, squeezed into a circle)

The feel of sunshine and warmth on my skin. The way it just allows me space to stop and take a breath and makes everything feel okay again.

The night sky and watching the stars. Thinking about the infinite possibilities and the depth of a world we don't fully know, see and understand.

Re: Battles

@NightFury yes they are the best 😊.

Oh I haven't had Milo with ice cream for years but I do have Milo with milk 😋

I love when they lay across you, the weight while uncomfortable is also calming. So glad you have her ❤️

Awww it's so cute to hear those words and especially when they are still learning how to pronounce things 😍

Ohh dreadlocks are awesome. I have fun with dying my hair bright colours but haven't been able to do it for a few years due to the cost. Always stand out and be you 😊

Re: Battles

@MissGremlin my hair has been a whole thing. Without the dread locks it's a from and it was this thing that I hated about myself. It was curly and big, and this status symbol that used to give other people pride and make other people tell me how lucky I was to have such beautiful curls. I hated it the whole time. As I got older I cut it short - really short and drenched it in dye. Getting dreadlocks was a statement to myself and to my world that I was claiming back a part of me and that I wasn't ever going to fit in a box again.

Re: Battles

@NightFury oh I feel you. I was picked on for my hair in school cos it was long, thick and curly (i used to sit on it). Then i had the opposites those that always said how lucky i was and that they loved my hair. I got my hair cut short when I was about 16 just below shoulder length. But then I went through massive amounts of trauma was forced to look a certain way etc. My hair has never grown back and I really do hate how it is, I've been very close to shaving it off and starting again. But I had fun when I could colour it and it meant I was able to be myself and not conform to anyone's standards.
