Managing thoughts of suicide & self-harm

Battles

Battles

Hi all, does anyone else just feel like life is just one big sh!t show? It's just one thing after another, constant drama, family issues, money struggles, stress, anxiety it's just always something.

When do things get easier, do things ever change?

I've been through more than i care to think about in my life but today has pushed me to breaking point and it's bringing up alot of bad memories of previous suicide attempts.

I just feel like it's not worth it, it's not worth fighting, not worth hanging on anymore.

Hi @Shaz51.

I am looking forward to having a couple of days off, but I get really restless while I'm trying to rest. I'm not great with days off. There are so many jobs to do and I am very aware of the fact that I'm not doing them when I'm trying to rest.

Morning @MissGremlin

I am still in bed with Luna, but thinking that it's time to get up and have some breakfast. My brain is processing my psychology appointment from yesterday and I feel super drowsy and tired.

How's it going over there?

Re: Battles

@NightFury Getting up and having some breakfast sounds like a good idea but bed is also comfy too. How did the appointment go for you yesterday sweet? I know they can be alot to process.

I'm still laying in bed but missing Casper. Feeling really anxious at the moment. I didn't get alot of sleep last night due to nightmares. Thinking about getting up and having a coffee but don't want to disturb my friend who seems to still be sleeping.

Re: Battles

The appointment went well @MissGremlin I like my new psychologist. She's really down to earth.

We talked about sleep. I have some things to try and I have to delay my caffeine intake in the morning until a little later in the day. If you have coffee too early in the morning, it interrupts your circadian rhythm and has an impact on sleep.

I am working on validating my emotions, on taking five minutes to pay attention to how I feel instead of ignoring it or distracting myself from it.

I also need to think about where I can reduce the pressure on myself. We talked about study and about lowering my own expectations and just aiming to pass and to just get through it. We talked about looking at options to extend it out to a three year course rather than a two year one.

She shared that she believes I have PTSD and that I am also neurodivergent, but she doesn't know what "brand" of neurodivergent I am yet.

And then, she told me that she's changing practices and asked me to think about whether I wanted to move with her and continue seeing her, or whether I wanted to stay at the practice and see someone else.

Re: Battles

@NightFury these all sound like some really good things to work on and notice.

The psychologist sounds like she's a good fit for you.

That's a tough decision especially when things seem to be going well. How are you feeling about the possibility of changing to seeing her at a new practice or starting with someone new?

Also apologies for the brief reply, we are driving and I get travel sickness so don't want to be on my phone for too long 😂.

Re: Battles

We talked about that too @MissGremlin

I'm tired of working with therapists short term, as a temporary thing. I need someone who can stick by me while I work through things and not disappear, for how ever long it takes. She said she would l9ve to be that person for me but that we still have a couple more sessions before she's leaving, so we have time to make a decision.

Her new office is a bit of a drive away. Around an hour from home and half hour from work. It would be more conveniant to stay at my current clinic which is 10 minutes from work.

But it makes me teary, like it has now. I want to stay with her.

You don't need to reply. Go, enjoy your day, my friend.
