Managing thoughts of suicide & self-harm

Battles

Battles

Hi all, does anyone else just feel like life is just one big sh!t show? It's just one thing after another, constant drama, family issues, money struggles, stress, anxiety it's just always something.

When do things get easier, do things ever change?

I've been through more than i care to think about in my life but today has pushed me to breaking point and it's bringing up alot of bad memories of previous suicide attempts.

I just feel like it's not worth it, it's not worth fighting, not worth hanging on anymore.

Re: Battles

I’m really sorry to hear you’ve had some difficult experiences with crisis services. That can make it so much harder to reach out, especially when you’re already feeling vulnerable. You deserve to be met with kindness and understanding.

It’s really positive that you’re taking those moments to pause and focus on your breathing. Hopefully that helps take a small edge off things while you’re getting ready to head out. Just taking things one step at a time is more than enough.

Thank you as well for your kind words, I really appreciate you taking the time to say that 😊

I hope your morning continues as smoothly as it can and that things feel a bit more settled as the day goes on @MissGremlin 💮

Re: Battles

Hello @Jynx, I've had a tough day. I went out this morning to an appointment for someone and then a quick trip to the shops which was ok and I avoided the shop where an incident happened on Saturday. Then I was meant to be taking my mother to the shops but she cancelled, only i still needed to somehow go to the shops. A friend of mine online has been really struggling with SI and today was a bad day for them, I got really scared and worried for them cos I can't do anything but be there for them to listen and offer support but I can't be there physically. My brain went into overdrive and all I could do to stop myself from completely spiralling and trying to avoid acting on my own thoughts was to throw myself into cleaning, so I did dishes, washing, vacummed the house, cleaned the stove and bathroom. My friend got some support from medical people which I'm glad but now they're back home and still very much at risk. I feel completely helpless and I'm really unsure how to manage my emotions around this. The thought of losing another person that I love scares the hell out of me after all the people I've lost recently.

I ended up messaging my friend that's local to me and we went to the shops together with her bubs as I really didn't feel confident in going alone after what happened.

I'm feeling really all over the place, I've struggled to be on here too much as my focus has been helping my online friend and keeping myself safe aswell. But at the same time I know i really need to stay connected.

I'm safe for the moment. I'm just about to do the few dishes that are left and then start my bedtime routine.

Sorry for the long post, that all just needed to come out.

Re: Battles

@MissGremlin wow, yeah tough day for sure hun. I hope it has helped to get some of it off your chest!

It can be so hard to feel like we are helpless to change the circumstances for someone who is struggling with SI. But you are already doing so much for them just by being there for them and listening to them in their time of need. You know how much of a difference that can make!

I think you're doing amazingly sweets. I hope your bedtime routine is going well to help you feel a bit more settled 💜

Re: Battles

@Jynx it really did help to get that out, cos I've been sitting with it alone.

I'm more than happy to be there for her and wish I could be there physically. We will be meeting up in may which is really exciting and something we are both looking forward to. It just breaks my heart to know how much she's struggling and with no support, we both know how broken the system really is.

Thankyou sweet, I'm sitting on my bed now. Sort of zoning out a bit as everything is catching up to me. I'm safe and will try to work on my diamond art, not sure whether to listen to music or watch true blood though. Hoping to give Casper a bath tomorrow while we have some warm weather.

How are you going?

Re: Battles

Feeling like I’m caught in ongoing circle.

Struggling with physical health issues which is having negative impact on my mood and having negative impact on my MH.

Review appointment next week with an allied health specialist. Feeling today I’ve taken a massive step backwards. Things due to Meds and different inhalers had been looking good until today. 🙁

trying to stay positive that plans for infusion through pain management firm will be able to be done

thinking of you @MissGremlin

@MissGremlin gladness 💜

I think it's awesome you have that plan!! Having something like that to look forward to can really keep us going 😊

Makes sense that it's all catching up, it does happen once we slow down a bit. Keep breathing through it hun. Maybe some comfort show will be a bit more of a distraction? Or could pick some music that might lift your mood? Sorry I'm no help at all! Haha

I'm not too shabby hehe, just watching Trixie who has heard or spotted something outside and is like, all super focused at the windscreen, her lil nose twitching away 😋

How does Casper go with baths?

Re: Battles

@Jynx yes it does help to keep us both going to a degree, we remind each other of it regularly.

Am feeling off, thinking I overdid it today as now i feel like i have a seizure coming (I'm safe). I've only had 1-3 hours of sleep a night for 6 days now, not sure how I'm functioning really. I listened to the duck toy song and then on & on then switched it over to watching true blood.

Glad to hear sweet. Haha awww Trixie being focused on something with her nose twitching away sounds super cute. Casper got a new toy today, it's a pig that makes that funny grunting/snorting sounds and he absolutely loves it 😂.

He's not a huge fan of baths but he tolerates it. He loves doing zoomies after them, though he does zoomies everyday 😂.

Re: Battles

@MissGremlin sounds intense, I hope if it does hit, it doesn't hit too hard hun. Totally legit that you're having such a rough time with so little sleep. One step at a time yeah? Hugs 💜

Oh I love those little pigs!! Have you seen that video of the guy who can make songs on em?

Aww Casper zoomies!! My childhood dog would always go out and find the stinkiest spot to roll in immediately after having a bath! Hope Casper's cleanliness lasts a little longer than that ahaha

Re: Battles

@Jynx really hoping it doesn't but the lack of sleep and lots of stress really aren't a good combination. One step at a time is exactly right, though rather than steps it's just one breath at a time right now. Thankyou sweet ❤️.

I've seen a few videos of people making songs with them and also those funny rubber chickens like avant-garde has to make people move 😂.

Haha oh that defeats the purpose of having a bath in the first place 😂. Thankfully Casper will only roll around on a towel inside that I put down for him after a bath.

Oh I remembered that I got a message earlier today to say that my counsellor appointment is on Thursday, actually really glad it's sooner than I thought cos its really needed right now to just be able to talk to her about everything that's been going on.
