Hi I’m new here I’ve been feeling really alone in the world for a while now. I feel like I don’t understand people and I really struggle with making connections. How do people make new friends at the age of 40? Anyway I thought I would reach out on here so I could maybe feel less alone or like maybe I’m not the only one who feels like an alien in the world.

Hello @Miss_B and welcome to the forums. I'm sorry to hear that you are feeling alone in the world. I've always struggled to make friends in the real world but I have made alot of connection here with people. Have you thought about joining some social groups in your area?
You are not alone here or in how you are feeling. There's alot of us that struggle with feeling like an alien in this world.

Thank you @Former-Member it’s so nice to know I’m not alone.
I have been trying to find things in my area but so far haven’t been able to find anything that I wanted to do.
We are also having really bad weather at the moment so I’m stuck inside.

@Miss_B that makes it hard when you haven't been able to find anything that you want to do. What sort of things are you interested in?
The weather where I am has been so hot so I get how that can impact being able to do things.

@Miss_B hi. Welcome to the club. I feel exactly the same as you. It may help that you are not alone. I have a fictitious friend called YANA "you are not alone. He can be your friend also. I live alone so it can be very lonely. I force myself to get, like going to a coffee shop and say hello to people. I did it this morning and chatted to a total stranger. It is amazing how friendly people can be. Sure it is not a long term connection but at least you get communication. I would like to read your response.

@Miss_B am I messaging myself we are so similar. Like I said I go to a coffee shop. I am older than you so find it even harder. Be brave! Start with me for a start and perhaps we can help each other to help us move forward.

@Miss_B that is my trouble also. Finding an interest and then maintaining it can be hard. A must is to get out of the house and I understand the weather impact. I like music, reading, walking light exercise interesting documentaries, sporting heroes. There is probably other things that I can't recall at the moment. Anyway the coffee shop is closing so must go now. It has been awesome chatting with you. Be back on line in about 30 minutes soI will check in then. Stay strong.
