Gardens

Hi @Dimity How is your garden looking? Still green? Weeds? What is your favourite plant/s you have?

were you able to bring Tiger home?

Im slowly trying to teach myself about gardening, thank goodness for Google. One of my neighbours has good plant knowledge, it was her that suggested putting the cuttings into water. She puts water in old juice bottle each time she wants to get cuttings to grow roots.

Re: Gardens

My mistake ….. huge mistake @Dimity

I played my game of croquet plus played the following game, filled in for a missing player. It was lovely out in the sun, I was warm and enjoying myself. My body told me all about it most of Saturday in a very painful, nasty way.

Couple months ago one of the ladies here asked if I could make her 2 Australians themed cards to give to a friend in Canada. I had no other information than that. I made 6 cards with different birds or animals for her to choose between. Yesterday she chose the cards she liked and I finished off the cards for her.

another lady has asked if she can have a look at Christmas cards I’ve made as would like to send Australiana theme cards to relatives overseas.

heat patches don’t seem to be doing much at times. Waiting time to see my doctor in person is about 4 weeks. Staff have booked Telehealth appointment for tomorrow. Want to see if doctor suggests anything different plus to talk about suggested pain management treatment.

@Dimity One big issue for me is my brain forgets my body can no longer do lots of things it could do 2 months ago

@Former-Member yes at times the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak... to misquote...

A friend swears by a hot shower after her physiotherapy sessions.

I'm still testing my limits in some ways but am definitely observing the specific limits my surgeon set. I'd like to be fitter and walk further so I'm working on that. My physiotherapy exercises don't really seem to help my back but maybe it would be worse without them.

It's good you have a creative outlet in your cards, and that people like them. I have a very cluttered corner piled with craft stuff. I think I've probably lost the knack but should make the effort to try. I can't remember where I put the pattern books, and I don't think I'd be able to thread a needle.

I do hope the gp has some ideas on ways to help you. I'll look forward to your report.

Re: Gardens

I’m nervous about having the medial branch block done, suspect that is what is causing my nightmares plus talking in my sleep/talking linked to the nightmare whilst waking.

part of me knows I need to have it done and hope they get the right nerves first time. Miss being able to take walk toward other end of the village and home without having to stop, sit down and rest each few minutes.

little things so easy to take for granted until can’t do it anymore.

hot shower is great for sore muscles, especially after physiotherapy. In the past, I’ve been known to use all the available hot water having long, hot shower 😂😂

@Dimity hoping you get the quotes for your fence before end of the week plus quotes are reasonable. At my previous place there was a small fence which ran from back of the unit to the back fence (fence divided back yard of mine and another unit). Person in the other unit was renting. Real estate did all the organising, I got sent the bill for half the cost. Was in Covid days, too long ago to remember the 💰💰

Information from my local doctor

- anything that works for me to get warmth into muscles and joints first thing in the mornings

- any type of heat pack or patch to continue providing heat during rest of the day

- use hot packs, cold packs, otc anti inflammatory cream on my hands, whatever I find works best

- have script for low dose anti inflammatory medication

- explained the treatments suggested by pain management group differently. Explained nerve block procedure can cause pain for short while after due to burning nerve ending for each nerve causing pain but gives long term pain relief. Explained infusion turns off pain receptors in the brain hence possible side effects plus different benefit for different people.

I was nervous about having first cataract surgery, think will be the same for the nerve block. I’m not worried about the infusion or hospital stay now.

Re: Gardens

It's good you got that overview from the gp @Former-Member . It sounds as though it's given you more confidence about the nerve block.

The first set of fence quotes has come through - a bit more than he'd said - but the second hasn't yet.

I tidied my front garden a bit today. Gave the catmint its winter trim and started working towards redesigning the other bed. Pulled out some very old herringbone ferns.

Re: Gardens

@Former-Member sorry about croquet being too much. Always a delicate art finding the right level of exercise. I am glad you were well prepped about information re the nerve block.

@Dimity I am not fond of getting tradies. Guess it depends when it is really necessary.

@Shaz51 @Jynx @tyme

My lettuces are starting their journey sending roots down and growing towards my plate. Hope they enjoy blue skies for a while first….lol

Re: Gardens

That's a pity @Shaz51 . Some of my herbs died off in the Melb winter but I still have garlic chives and parsley. And a sage.
