Life can be a Pain

Life can be a Pain

Hi @BlueBay@Zoe7@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@utopia@oceangirl@TAB@Shaz51@PeppiPatty

I know there are more people I could tag but maybe I will think them up as I go along - actually I already have

I think I need my own thread - mostly my problem is chronic pain syndrome - I damaged my spine with the sporting excesses of my youth - a long time ago now - and I managed to rearrange it when I fell of my pushbike in a wind storm nearly 22 years ago and that seems a long time ago now but there is nothing they can do except treat the pain - and I do have Section 8 medication and I see a pain specialist

And the pain has been worse lately and wears me down and I get fed up and very tired -

I have issues with my mother as well - and although she died 2 years ago I still have bad times now and again - she was abusive and as well as I know myself and her this can get to me at times - and this is another reason I opened my own thread

Then there is TS - my Toxic Sister - she was under my skin for a while but not at the moment

So yesterday I felt so bad when I went to see the doctor about my back pain - and my pain specialist has cut my medication back several times over the last few years and she has gone too far - and I started to tell my doctor - yes - I cope with the pain better since my mother died - but it's driving me crackers atm and so are the memories of my mother

So that's it for now - I have had trouble opening this thread for some reason but now I have - I will run my own story - I would like to think I don't need to but yes - I do

You are all such wonderful supportive people - you are my soft place to land - that is so true

And anyone I have missed I will tag as I go along

Lots of hugs everyone

Hi @utopia

I have a truss mini tomato - different kinds of lettuce and parsley

My knee has good days and bad days - one day when I am having a good day with my knee I will get another pot and more potting mix and get some herbs going

Fresh herbs are the best

I had a pumpkin vine growing out of the compost years ago when my ex-h and I were getting established in our first home and the backyard was kinda out of control. I saw a really great pumpkin growing there but after a few days rain etc I couldn't find it but the vine had moved it 3 -4 metres into the long grass - it was still there doing well and it was the best pumpkin ever - too big for the two of us so we shared bits of it and people loved it too - I think that really was the best pumpkin ever

And the potatoes I grew @utopia

They were always sod-potatoes and inedible - I took me a long time to learn and I am half-Irish - my Irish ancestors took their seed potatoes to NZ and got so hungry they dug them up and et them

Re: Life can be a Pain

Maybe you and potatoes don't go together @Owlunar, regardless of your Irish ancestry. Lol.
Yes, I always plant a couple of pumpkin seeds along the garden edge and just let them go wild. Fun finding the pumpkins. I do tge same with Cantaloupe and Watermelon.

Hi @Owlunar,

I've had you on my heart this last few days - realising how long its been since we touched base. Please forgive my absent breaks, I've been in lala land or something - but coming back. I do have a thread on the carers side 'mum, severe anxiety...'. where ive posted a fair bit of late. Just Spent a couple weeks with my parents (won't go there here) but making my way home (1200km) and just spent the night with a wonderful old friend of faith, near Newcastle, where I feel safe again, and drama free. So yes, a bit of head space for you again.

How are you going? How's that knee?

Stay strong 💜💜💜

Hi @Former-Member

It's so good to hear from you - I have been wondering how you are and how you were coping at your parents' home and I will look in the Carer's Forum to catch up on what's been going on with your mother and I know this must have been really hard for you

I'm so glad you were able to spend some time with an old friend of faith - you would have plenty to talk about and it seems to have done you a world of good - that is better than fantastic

My knee is the same - I feel better walking about with the crutches but I am also aware that this is only going to go on for as long as it takes - still - walking is the best thing for my emotions - it feels good to get out into the fresh air

Whether I will today remains to be seen - I have looked at the BOM radar from the local airport and it seems to be raining in patches all over the place except hered - so I have over an hour before I need to go out and I am busy waiting and seeing -

Actually I felt fine when we had a couple of warm days but late yesterday it because stormy and cold - really heavy rain - and the old aches and pains hit me hard - it's the change in the barometic pressure - it's just me getting old - for all the people who tell me that age is just a number I tell them wait till you get here - but then - this is arthritis and when it comes to the devil I know - I prefer arthritis to many other conditions

My baby plants are doing really well - having sun and rain helps them to grow and they sure are growing - my tomato plant has some flowers -

So I will be going and finding where you have posted on the Carers Forum and I will be glad to catch up on what you have been doing

You are so often in my thoughts

I so love that water-lily too - such delicate colours and petals

Hi @utopia

I think you are right that potatoes and I do not go well together - I do not like them very much at all

Yeah - I do have this Irish Ancestry but I am more like my father's Engish Family and apart from anything - I am no gardener - I think I have a brown elbow - more into maths than gardens - but with my daughter's help I try to manage with pots - I am a potter I think - I am wondering if there are any potters in the family - well - my herbs and salads do okay

Of course the Irish love vegetables - I have heard - they have mashed potatoes, boiled potatoes, baked potatoes and chips - at least I like chips

I have been reading the forums over the last couple of days but there are times when I find I have very little to say - today I guess I am saying something and I hope you are well and managing with your choices

I have thought a lot about choices and as unpopular as our choices are sometimes I think we live better with our own decisions that those that other people enforce in some way - I know you are battling and I am thinking of you - and choices - quite a bit lately

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @Former-Member

I read through the thread you wrote in the Carers Forum - I think it deserves the reading but what a hard time you have had

I won't write what I wrote there again - only you certainly did more and went further than most people would have - and there is no shame - only honour - you did more than I could or would have when my own parents aged

Thanks for letting me know where you had posted so I could catch up and I am glad you are at home now

Sending my best thoughts and prayers
