Life can be a Pain

Life can be a Pain

Hi @BlueBay@Zoe7@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@utopia@oceangirl@TAB@Shaz51@PeppiPatty

I know there are more people I could tag but maybe I will think them up as I go along - actually I already have

I think I need my own thread - mostly my problem is chronic pain syndrome - I damaged my spine with the sporting excesses of my youth - a long time ago now - and I managed to rearrange it when I fell of my pushbike in a wind storm nearly 22 years ago and that seems a long time ago now but there is nothing they can do except treat the pain - and I do have Section 8 medication and I see a pain specialist

And the pain has been worse lately and wears me down and I get fed up and very tired -

I have issues with my mother as well - and although she died 2 years ago I still have bad times now and again - she was abusive and as well as I know myself and her this can get to me at times - and this is another reason I opened my own thread

Then there is TS - my Toxic Sister - she was under my skin for a while but not at the moment

So yesterday I felt so bad when I went to see the doctor about my back pain - and my pain specialist has cut my medication back several times over the last few years and she has gone too far - and I started to tell my doctor - yes - I cope with the pain better since my mother died - but it's driving me crackers atm and so are the memories of my mother

So that's it for now - I have had trouble opening this thread for some reason but now I have - I will run my own story - I would like to think I don't need to but yes - I do

You are all such wonderful supportive people - you are my soft place to land - that is so true

And anyone I have missed I will tag as I go along

Lots of hugs everyone

Re: Life can be a Pain

OMG @Owlunar 80 in a few months - that will be a milestone to celebrate 😁

COVID didn't affect me much at all either. I still had work although for a little time it was different but we also had kids at school so we took turns in taking classes. I don't generally go anywhere I do not have to and prefer being home so that was the same. I could not go to my friend's funeral in another state but I am not sure I could have afforded to go anyway. We had a memorial BBQ here but I did not know anyone so did not stay long. His sister was supposed to be there but her flight was delayed so she did not make it until the evening ...and it was held on my birthday so I visited my family and went home ....a pretty sad day but my family understood.

I am so glad you are finding being back so welcoming - you certainly deserve that 💖

Hi @Shaz51

I'm so glad to see you again and sorry I haven't responded earlier - you have so much on your plate

There's no need to apologize to anyone about losing people - it happens - and as the late Queen Elizabeth ii said - "Grief is the price we pay for love" - so true

About your mother - it's a mixed "thing" that she is in care - a relief that she is being cared for and tough that she's no longer the person she used to be. However she's still your mother and that is a grief for you too. I understand.

And Mr Shaz has up-and-downs - as has been the case for years I think. I read somewhere that he has been very itchy. That this is possibly his medication. Darn - something we could all do without

I am having the itches myself but it's mosquito bites I think - or something else. There are a lot of flying insects around in Melbourne. I try not to scratch but I still manage to do this from time to time - Mr Shaz has my sympathy about that. I just took antihistamines - maybe that will settle down soon.

Really - I am shocked that they are taking such a long time to at least get you on dialysis. That seems so wrong. I am sure having dialysis would not be pleasant but with that Poor Little Kidney battling on the best it can is a battle I am sure

Do you manage to get enough rest. I know you put everyone else first but I advocate self-care. We need to care for ourselves first so we can care for others.

I have been so busy this week - I am actually surprised it's Friday. But it is. And we have been having a summer at last - we had very low temperatures for the last two summers - after what we now call The Black Summer of 2019 - 2020 when there were bushfires all over Australia - I am glad for the warm weather

Great to catch Shaz - all the best

Yes @Zoe7

I will be 80 in July - it's actually hard to imagine and I don't know what I will do about it yet - I might go to the Sunshine Coast but not for my birthday - I have an anniversary in July and before COVID I got away for a few days every winter -

My grand-daughter and her partner live there - not on the coast but close enough for me to stay at a hotel I love there - I have spoken to the partner on Face Time - he seems to be a genuine sort of man - good for her - and they have a rescued greyhound - he loves soft toys and I sent him one for Christmas and loved seeing this intelligent animal unwrapping his parcel and then rushing off to hide it in his bed as he has been trained to do.

I sent the partner chocolates - I hope they didn't melt before they got there - it was very hot in Queensland.

School starts again today - here anyway - does that happen in Tassie? I think there are problems here about fees and not enough staff. There are staffing problems everywhere - this didn't seem to be an issue before COVID but it surely is now.

Actually - when my kids were at school it was totally free except for voluntary fees - the world has changed a lot since then.

I wish you the best possible start to the new school year - and to life generally - I often wonder if there are many people who have what they feel is the perfect life. I am sure I have grown and learned wisdom through mine - and you have - and I expect change - whatever it is.

Sending brilliant thoughts -

Re: Life can be a Pain

LOL @Owlunar I love that you sent the greyhound a toy and had a giggle when you said he took it to hide in his bed. Toby would never do that ...he prefers to spread his around so I can pick them all up (or trip over them) hahaha

I think a trip away for your birthday (even if it is at another time) is a great idea. I know you love getting away for a few days and love hearing about your trips.

We go back next week. I start Monday and the kids are back on Wednesday. I am going in tomorrow to begin setting up but don't want to spend all day there - hopefully just a couple of hours. I am lucky this year as I did not have to move classrooms so I really only have to put things back where they were. It will be great to have everything taken back that I brought home to clean or fix ...it will free up so much room in my spare room so I can begin sorting the last things out.

Much love and all the very best wishes to you too Hon 💖

Hi @Zoe7 @Shaz51 @outlander @Emelia8 @Appleblossom @MDT @Anastasia

@TAB @Historylover @Bunniekins @Snowie @Meowmy @EternalFlower @Judi9877

@Clawde

I have a busy day today - but it has been great getting out - taking a bus there and back - and catching up here. Life is looking much better now.

The day started cool and cloudy - it cleared up and was pretty warm - I waited at the bus stop in the shade and a cool breeze sprang up and I loved the feathery sound it made blowing though the leaves of the tree. I missed this sort of thing travelling in taxis all the time.

At the moment I have the TV on watching The Chase Australia - I love answering these questions - maybe I will get around to going on it someday but of course - I can't tell anyone here if I do - only after I have guess.

It has been a good day for me - I hope other people have been so lucky
