Life can be a Pain

Life can be a Pain

Hi @BlueBay@Zoe7@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@utopia@oceangirl@TAB@Shaz51@PeppiPatty

I know there are more people I could tag but maybe I will think them up as I go along - actually I already have

I think I need my own thread - mostly my problem is chronic pain syndrome - I damaged my spine with the sporting excesses of my youth - a long time ago now - and I managed to rearrange it when I fell of my pushbike in a wind storm nearly 22 years ago and that seems a long time ago now but there is nothing they can do except treat the pain - and I do have Section 8 medication and I see a pain specialist

And the pain has been worse lately and wears me down and I get fed up and very tired -

I have issues with my mother as well - and although she died 2 years ago I still have bad times now and again - she was abusive and as well as I know myself and her this can get to me at times - and this is another reason I opened my own thread

Then there is TS - my Toxic Sister - she was under my skin for a while but not at the moment

So yesterday I felt so bad when I went to see the doctor about my back pain - and my pain specialist has cut my medication back several times over the last few years and she has gone too far - and I started to tell my doctor - yes - I cope with the pain better since my mother died - but it's driving me crackers atm and so are the memories of my mother

So that's it for now - I have had trouble opening this thread for some reason but now I have - I will run my own story - I would like to think I don't need to but yes - I do

You are all such wonderful supportive people - you are my soft place to land - that is so true

And anyone I have missed I will tag as I go along

Lots of hugs everyone

Re: Life can be a Pain

Good morning @BlueBay @Former-Member @Appleblossom @Zoe7 @Anastasia

Thanks for your thoughts everyone

I am feeling better this morning - I had a good sleep last night after thinking carefully about what I can and can't do right now

Atm the testing for COVID is a debacle and I am not even going to try - and I am still waiting for the two weeks after my booster anyway - and the rules are changing all the time so who knows?

My aunt's funeral is different but then - I know how much I care about my aunt and what she has done for me through my life. God knows too. Funerals are for the living - the dead don't need it - so I will leave that up to God as well and pray I can go - I can pray that the COVID testing issues ease up -

But I will write to her - I will be going to the local shops early today - it feels as if it will be pretty warm in Melbourne today - so I need to get those chores over early - and I will write and if my aunt can't read it herself someone can read it to her

I have thought of something I can do for my family that perhaps no one else can do and that is to visit my uncle in aged care as the COVID issues settle - he is in his 90s and he didn't know me when I was on the phone - and I guess it doesn't matter if he knows me or not - I will know and he will not be left totally alone there. I feel so sad about that - my uncle was many things and one of the was a physicist - he helped me with my maths when I was young. I was the first niece and he has been there for my whole life and ....

Yes - you all know how much I care for them

Dear @Owlunar 😊

Really sorry about your Aunt, and hope that when the time comes, you are able to make it to the funeral.

My thoughts are always with you, even when I am lying low and not as active here. I continue to read and check that my many friends here are doing as well as possible.

Much love and gentle hugs.

The rules are changing for each state and for travel every day @Owlunar so I suppose it will be a case of 'wait and see' when the time comes. Visiting your uncle would still be good - even if he doesn't know you, you can still share time and company together. Writing a letter to your aunty is a lovely idea - you can let her know how much she means to you and would no doubt give her a moment of joy hearing from you.

You can only take it one day at a time at the moment, keep up to date as much as you are able and then make decisions when you need to. Such a horrible time knowing someone you love is going to die and there is nothing that can be done but make them comfortable. I was so grateful to have that time with my Nan during her final days - there was nothing left unsaid and that did make a difference to how I grieved for her. I do hope you can get to see your Aunty but if not the letter is the next best thing - say all you need to say. let her know how loved she is and give yourself permission to feel the loss in anyway you need. Hugs and hugs and hugs dear Dec

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @Shaz51 @Zoe7 @Emelia8 @BlueBay @Anastasia @Appleblossom @Former-Member

I made my phonecalls yesterday - I wrote a letter to my aunt and then rang the hospital I thought she was in and she isn't - and I rang my cousin in Hobart and left a message - he has yet to reply - I am pretty sure he is busy and has I haven't spoken to him for a long time he might not know who I am

So I am really up in the air about everything so it's not much good thinking of going to Hobart yet - which I would not do until it's two weeks after my COVID booster which is another week and things can change a lot in that much time

So what I do know is that yesterday I couldn't enter Tasmania without proof of vaccination - which I have - and a COVID test - and I am not in a position to stand in a queue for hours and I don't drive so unless I can access a Rapid Antigen Test I really won't be going for any reason

And I believe there is a shortage of Rapid Antigen Tests - so I have to find out and I am in no hurry at this stage because everything is so uncertain

So - let's get New Year out of the way - though I can leave another message for my cousin - I realise I know a lot about my cousins because of my frequent contact with my aunt and uncle - they - the cousin in Hobart may not have heard much about me and that's life - I am sorry but it's the way it is

What I do know is that Victoria is considered a Hot Spot - and no wonder the way people are crowding the systems right now.

I am feeling okay but unsettled because it is so hard to find out what is happening with my family

So much up in the air and not know for you @Owlunar You can only do what is possible in today for now but that waiting and not knowing is draining ...so look after yourself first and when you do know something then deal with it then. Hugs and hugs and hugs
