Life can be a Pain

Life can be a Pain

Hi @BlueBay@Zoe7@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@utopia@oceangirl@TAB@Shaz51@PeppiPatty

I know there are more people I could tag but maybe I will think them up as I go along - actually I already have

I think I need my own thread - mostly my problem is chronic pain syndrome - I damaged my spine with the sporting excesses of my youth - a long time ago now - and I managed to rearrange it when I fell of my pushbike in a wind storm nearly 22 years ago and that seems a long time ago now but there is nothing they can do except treat the pain - and I do have Section 8 medication and I see a pain specialist

And the pain has been worse lately and wears me down and I get fed up and very tired -

I have issues with my mother as well - and although she died 2 years ago I still have bad times now and again - she was abusive and as well as I know myself and her this can get to me at times - and this is another reason I opened my own thread

Then there is TS - my Toxic Sister - she was under my skin for a while but not at the moment

So yesterday I felt so bad when I went to see the doctor about my back pain - and my pain specialist has cut my medication back several times over the last few years and she has gone too far - and I started to tell my doctor - yes - I cope with the pain better since my mother died - but it's driving me crackers atm and so are the memories of my mother

So that's it for now - I have had trouble opening this thread for some reason but now I have - I will run my own story - I would like to think I don't need to but yes - I do

You are all such wonderful supportive people - you are my soft place to land - that is so true

And anyone I have missed I will tag as I go along

Lots of hugs everyone

Oh wow, that's devastating @Shaz51 - like your mum doesn't even see that it's not just about her getting support, but about those around her. That's really rough.

Re: Life can be a Pain

I'm sorry @Shaz51 and I do understand - my Gran had mini-strokes and was confused - and totally against any medical help and finally had to go into a nursing home - my mother was so caught up with guilt she need not have had it consumed her and there was no need

The change in my medication regime is too fast - I can't always comply so I can't write much now - I will be emailing my specialist tomorrow letting her know it's too ambitious

You are doing the best you can with what you have on your plate - confusing yes - please care for yourself first and the rest as you can

Hi @Owlunar

was thinking of you and was wondering how you are.
Any plans for today? I forgot to ask - has your daughter been in touch?

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @BlueBay

My daughter has been in touch - actually she posted me a Christmas Card the day after our "discussion" but it took nearly a week to get here - as did my new credit card actually

My grand-daughter received her Christmas parcel from me in 3 days - it was Express Mail - I am glad she has received it so quickly

Actually my daughter and grand-daughter have had health issues also - so alas - I am not feeling up to travel to Queensland yet - and still wary about exposure though I am seeing my daughter and her husband on Christmas Day. Also - I could travel to Hobart to see my frail-aged relatives but not yet - we must but our own health first or we might just make more patients

It's taking time to get past the pain - the programme my specialist's colleague has set up is too ambitious and I will be sending her an email tomorrow to let her know. I am waiting for fluid replacement injections into my left-shoulder and my main specialist does those - so I think I should wait until he can do them before I tritrate down so quickly - though I am trying -

So - today - yes - it's a tough-it-out day which is not much fun - but I take what I know I need to take knowing I will tell the specialist who suggested the regime. After all - they don't know how much pain I am in unless I tell them.

I think about you a lot - I know what some mothers can be like - this last act of your mother's is really horrible - she will not get away without her share of misery about all of this I know from my own mother's experience

But I care about you

I'm so glad you're daughter has been in touch @Owlunar

And I'm glad your granddaughter received your present. That was quick.

I think it's important to put your own well-being first before travelling. As much as I know you love to go up north to see your granddaughter. I bet you miss her heaps.
I hope the specialists can help with your pain management.
Wishing you the best xxxxoooo

Re: Life can be a Pain

@BlueBay @Shaz51 @Zoe7 @Anastasia @Jynx - others I haven't tagged - I need to make a new list

I was lucky enough to have a fluid replacement injection into my shoulder this afternoon - not the most exciting way to spend the afternoon but I have had it before Christmas. It is under the effects of a local anaesethic atm but I know from the past it will be touchy for a few days but it will be easier for a while for the next few weeks and subsequent injections will improve things further. I couldn't have them through the lock-down - I have them done by my specialists in their office. This is good news

I have to wait until the end of the year to get my booster COVID jab. The problem is supply - I could comment on the supply-issue but I will leave that up to other people

I had another message from my cousin in Canada about my aunt in Tasmania - she has pancreatic cancer and although my cousin tells me something I can't get any details - tomorrow I will ring my other elderly in Melbourne and try and find out more. At the moment I am aware my aunt must be very lonely and my uncle as dementia and it beggars the thought of considering how things must really be there. In the new year I will see how things are going by travelling there myself

I told my pain specialist about my aunt - he thinks she needs pain management and there are pain specialists in Hobart but I am not sure they could afford for that kind of care - still - I will ask my older uncle tomorrow and I guess there is really little anyone can do.

Life certainly does throw curvy balls - mine has certainly had it's moments lately but I am feeling better all the time - esp now I have had the fluid replacement injection.

I would like to wish everyone the best Christmas they are able to have right now - it seems many people are facing a bleak time - I understand - things seems to be environmently unfriendly this year

Re: Life can be a Pain

sounds like a painful injection, but hopefully things will ease up for you.

that's sad about your aunty in Tassie, must be very difficult for her and also for your uncle having dementia - so so difficult 😞

yes life does through curve balls every now and then - definitely agree with you @Owlunar

I wish you @Owlunar a Merry Christmas and hope and pray that 2022 is a good year for you healthwise. Enjoy your day with your daughter and son in law

love BB xxxooo
