Life can be a Pain

Life can be a Pain

Hi @BlueBay@Zoe7@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@utopia@oceangirl@TAB@Shaz51@PeppiPatty

I know there are more people I could tag but maybe I will think them up as I go along - actually I already have

I think I need my own thread - mostly my problem is chronic pain syndrome - I damaged my spine with the sporting excesses of my youth - a long time ago now - and I managed to rearrange it when I fell of my pushbike in a wind storm nearly 22 years ago and that seems a long time ago now but there is nothing they can do except treat the pain - and I do have Section 8 medication and I see a pain specialist

And the pain has been worse lately and wears me down and I get fed up and very tired -

I have issues with my mother as well - and although she died 2 years ago I still have bad times now and again - she was abusive and as well as I know myself and her this can get to me at times - and this is another reason I opened my own thread

Then there is TS - my Toxic Sister - she was under my skin for a while but not at the moment

So yesterday I felt so bad when I went to see the doctor about my back pain - and my pain specialist has cut my medication back several times over the last few years and she has gone too far - and I started to tell my doctor - yes - I cope with the pain better since my mother died - but it's driving me crackers atm and so are the memories of my mother

So that's it for now - I have had trouble opening this thread for some reason but now I have - I will run my own story - I would like to think I don't need to but yes - I do

You are all such wonderful supportive people - you are my soft place to land - that is so true

And anyone I have missed I will tag as I go along

Lots of hugs everyone

It's true @Zoe7

I didn't feel comfortable with going on Thursday - tomorrow - I want more info about my shoulder before then - and have an idea what's happening inside it

Sending more love and hugs right back

I understand that @Owlunar Once you have that information for yourself you can be active in finding the right solution with all the facts on hand. You of course know your pain the best and what you can deal with - and having a longer term more permanent solution to that can only be done if you know exactly what you are dealing with.

More hugs for you too Dec

Hi @Zoe7

It's good to see you here again - and I am wondering if that cold front has hit you in Tassie yet

We've had lots of rain but I don't think it's sub-standard cold yet - that is supposed to hit tomorrow I believe

I am glad I changed my plans - I have an order for an MRI from my GP and also an appointment to have an on-line chat with my psychologist. I think the COVID-19 crisis and lock-down managed to get to me a bit during the week and I had a chat with my GP yesterday - it made a difference that I had given myself some time and space to see what's happening with my shoulder. My GP said I could have had a telephone consult with my specialist but I would have been having local anaesthetic needles into my shoulder or just being told to get an MRI so - yes - after rambling - I feel much better today because I feel as if I have taken control of the situation

I know the cold weather affects you so I hope you can keep warm and keep your health up to scratch - all the best Zoe

Hi again @Zoe7

I saw a moth on the window behind me reflected on my computer screen and I thought of you and took a photo of it - cleaned it up a bit with filters and thought - "I have to share this with you" - so here it is - I have never seen one like this before

I've never seen one so transparent before

Re: Life can be a Pain

That moth is really beautiful @Owlunar and what a lovely surprise for you. It makes it even lovelier that you thought of me 🦋💖

It is difficult with less and less face to face connection with our specialists and I can understand you not wanting to do all that by phone - especially when you need the pain relief rather than just a check up ...and your GP could give you the referral so why waste time talking to more people when you have what you need 👍

The cold hasn't hit here yet but is expected to over the next few days. Jumper weather today but not too bad. I am inside all day anyway so won't feel the cold tomorrow - and over the weekend I will be inside with the heater nice and cosy ....no doubt with lots of Toby snuggles for that little extra bit of warmth. It already feels like it is going to be a cold winter when it hits - and the school I am at is in an area that will get really cold so preparing for that with getting all my warm jackets out.

A very long day today but I achieved most of what I needed to. Still some things to finalise in the morning (and a little work to do tonight) but my brain was cactus after lunch so I went visiting a few people and that helped get some things sorted.

Not much on tonight - a little more school work, a little housework and then under the doona with Toby 🐶 Hope you have kept warm and your shoulder is bearable. Hugs and hugs

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @Owlunar ... I just wanted to thank you for your supportive posts early this week. I was feeling really confused, threatened and upset at the time. So your posts to me were very much appreciated.

Wondering if you are considering applying for a CG position, as I note they are 'recruiting' right now. I think I recall you saying some months ago that its something which would interest you, and you would be good at it. So I hope you do.

Glad to hear that you have the referral for an MRI re your shoulder, definitely best to get it checked out so everyone knows whats going on.

Waves to you too @Zoe7

Hi @Owlunar @Decadian @Former-Member @Zoe7 and anyone else in this thread. I hope you don't mind me jumping in late here.. I'm newish to the forums. I have fibromyalgia so this thread was interesting to read. The struggles everyone deals with.

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hey @Escaped_Goat You are more than welcome.

Fibromyalgia is debilitating - how are you going with that?

Re: Life can be a Pain

@Zoe7 Thank you. Not so great at the moment... but only because I've recently had major surgery so a lot of the things movement-wise I do to reduce my pain are currently forbidden.

Re: Life can be a Pain

That sucks @Escaped_Goat It is so hard when those things that have previously helped are not possible. Do you have any indication on how long it will be until you can do those things again?
