Life can be a Pain

Life can be a Pain

Hi @BlueBay@Zoe7@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@utopia@oceangirl@TAB@Shaz51@PeppiPatty

I know there are more people I could tag but maybe I will think them up as I go along - actually I already have

I think I need my own thread - mostly my problem is chronic pain syndrome - I damaged my spine with the sporting excesses of my youth - a long time ago now - and I managed to rearrange it when I fell of my pushbike in a wind storm nearly 22 years ago and that seems a long time ago now but there is nothing they can do except treat the pain - and I do have Section 8 medication and I see a pain specialist

And the pain has been worse lately and wears me down and I get fed up and very tired -

I have issues with my mother as well - and although she died 2 years ago I still have bad times now and again - she was abusive and as well as I know myself and her this can get to me at times - and this is another reason I opened my own thread

Then there is TS - my Toxic Sister - she was under my skin for a while but not at the moment

So yesterday I felt so bad when I went to see the doctor about my back pain - and my pain specialist has cut my medication back several times over the last few years and she has gone too far - and I started to tell my doctor - yes - I cope with the pain better since my mother died - but it's driving me crackers atm and so are the memories of my mother

So that's it for now - I have had trouble opening this thread for some reason but now I have - I will run my own story - I would like to think I don't need to but yes - I do

You are all such wonderful supportive people - you are my soft place to land - that is so true

And anyone I have missed I will tag as I go along

Lots of hugs everyone

Hi @Shaz51

It was unfortunate that something belonging to your client was broken and cost more than the job to replace - that was a toughie - but yes - you are wonderful to have replaced it - not everyone would - that would have really touched me gently for I have had some of my things damaged by my helpers and they have not been replaced - and it does feel sad when that happens

And your Mum - locking up her house - I guess she does that to feel safe in such a time when there are less people about - or maybe she does that a lot of the time but not when you are likely to be about - and this time forgot - but it must have been upsetting for you

All the best for the kidney transplant - I hope I was't dreaming when I read that last night and posted on my phone - that sounds like good news - I sometimes wondered how long you would have to wait for something like that

All the best and it is Tuesday again

Aw - I can't find my favourie Tuesday pic

But I found another one

Enjoy your Tuesday

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @Shaz51 @Zoe7 @TAB @outlander @MDT

I am seeing my pain specialist next week - and I am really glad - his guy is proactive - yes - he wants me to reduce my medication and that is happening but best of all are his injections of local anaesthetic into my sore places - first my knee then my back and next week - hopefully - my shoulder - which is really playing up at the moment and making me wonder

I believe in the power of the mind can play a big part of pain management - not the whole story because I know and othe people know that the pain is real and not a vague figment of the imagination - so I hope next Thursday has the injections factored in and COVID-19 doesn't get in the way

I have been social distancing since early March and I am okay - I have to post a picture of my jigsaw - I finished it last night - I thought two pieces were missing and I remember my cat playing with the puzzle which is why I stopped doing it way back when - and I searched the floor and under my keyboard which has been pushed to the end of the table - I gently smoothed my hand over the puzzle - nothing - I tried again and found one piece - then the other and the puzzle is complete and 3 feet by 2 feet and I want to leave it on the table for now but I need to play my keyboard too -

I have so many choices - wow

This time of year is my hard time of year - and I am so totally feeling bad about the circumstances of 1986 - the gloomy weather stirs the discomfort of my memories but I do push on - my life goes on - I think it might be time to see my therapist again - I have a new plan - I just need to ease the pressures building up with these unwelcome life-style changes we are all enduring right now

And of course I think about other people - everyone has SOMETHING and it is all brought into focus with COVID-19 - I believe we shall get through it and better in Australia and New Zealand because of the tougher lock-down rules we have had here

But yes - I am tired of the trite phrases too - one thing I firmly believe is that we don't have to like the circumstances - we just have to endure them and let time pass

All the best everyone - my coffee could have been better this morning - I made it with condensed milk and only found the sweet part at the bottom of the cup so -

Dec

It's nearly time for a better cup of coffee about now

Re: Life can be a Pain

This all will pass @Owlunar and I am really interested to see how society reacts when restrictions are lifted. I expect most things to go back to how they were - that nothing much will actually be learnt from the social isolation - people are creatures of habit and as such I believe will pick up exactly where they left off - and it will be the environment that suffers yet again. Worldwide there are so many examples of how much pollution humans put into this earth by the ways that natural places have began to restore back to their original state - ie. the canals in Venice are clear, smog around major cities has reduced - but will we learn from this or move forward in the same manner as we did before - I suspect so and that is sad.

Goodluck with getting your injections - I know how much they help you with the pain 👍

Re: Life can be a Pain

Thanks @Zoe7

Yes - it really does seem that mankind as a species is a creature of habit - have people of power taken in anything about the cleaner atmosphere and water? It would be wonderful if they had - I noticed how clear the night-skies were in March - the photos I took were full of stars - light pollution is something that has bugged me for a long time but I admit I hadn't thought that COVID-19 has been a factor in the clear skies - it could have been

It can take disasters - I remember going to church with my family one very clear night - it might have been Christmas, 1946. The sky was so full of stars it was dazzling - and there was a comet - with a tail - and I remember it clearly and for some reason I was afraid of it and thought it had something to do with the war. And of course it did - the war was over but Melbourne was still browned-out and light-pollution soon started to take those stars away and I haven't seen a comet since.

I saw a photo of the Himalayas taken a couple of weeks back - and they were visible 200 miles away - I would have liked to have seen that in person - can mankind learn anything from COVID-19? I really hope so - distasters can bring out the worst in people but they can bring out the best too - let's hope we see the best after the lock-down.

Yes - these injections really help with the pain - I am glad I had the treatment on my spine when I did - I had to be in hospital for those - but I think he can do the shoulder in his office - it has been getting more troublesome lately - I have had it operated on twice - the first was a failure but the second lasted for nearly 20 years - I possibly need a joint replacement done but I am not ready for that - I would need extra help at home and don't fancy having another operation - any operation - mostly it's the inconvenience - but I know time passes and we all shall see

Just a fun hug - just because I can

Re: Life can be a Pain

My mother possibly needs a hip replacement @Owlunar but she is adamant she will not have one - so she suffers in pain, can't sleep and can't get around very well. I don't know whether she is scared to have it done or just stubborn - maybe a bit of both. In your circumstance I can fully understand your trepidation as it would mean someone having to do things for you and as you live alone that would not be easy to organise - plus it is the inconvenience and invasion of your personal space which you so value.

I honestly do not think there will be muched learnt from the rpesent situation in regards to the environment. People are generally selfish as a species and it will be more about what they can do for themselves that will matter once this is over. All the things that have stopped will be up and running again and it will be done as quickly as it can - and that will put extra pressure on our environment. What was once a major issue of concern for many will no doubt be right down the list when this is all over - and that is unfortunate because we have a great window as a result of isolation to actually look at what has been happening around the world in terms of pollution, global warming and other environmental issues - but people's own self interests will no doubt take over once more - sad but reality I suspect.

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi again @Zoe7

I took some tablets and got a wheat pack and some lunch and tried to ease my shoulder and hope that the pain specialist can fix the pain in my shoulder with his magic needles - otherwise I will have to increase my medication or have a joint replacement - I am not afraid of it - but yes - the inconvenience of having to be in hospital and rehab does bother me - I really enjoy the privacy of my own home and it is intrusive having people come in here all the time

It's really weird actually - as much as I like my regular girls I still have the feeling I can't think about or really do anything else when they are here. They ask me questions and distract me which is a bother. I enjoy chatting with them - and listening to them - they are all upset by the coronavirus and the effects it is having - when I had two of them here at once they raised their voices - talking to each other - and I am a listener and I could here the sub-text under what they were saying - they are afraid - of their work, their contacts, their families, the continuation of their employment. And I understand all of this - that part of life is easy for me

But I like my privacy - I like my own cooking - atm it's difficult for me having them do my shopping. I really want to go and do it for myself. We all have our bottom lines I think - and we all have corners of our lives that we want to have for ourselves and have it done our way so we will do it ourselves

But I will have one or two joint replacement surgeries if they become necessary - I just don't want to

Your Mum though - mine was the same - rather that have important tests done about a serious health issue she had - she would not have them and as it turned out - she nearly died when she was overseas - in fact my mother spent so much - too much - of her life being afraid of things - and she was stubborn too _ I hear what you are saying

Humans and the environment and being selfish - yes - we are - actually - I had a bit of a think outside the box and everything is or it loses its space. There is nothing as selfish as a glacier - but it is unconscious as well and has no idea.

Human beings have awareness which sets us apart from the rest of nature - so selfishness has a different meaning - I think it comes to the point of being reasonable - glaciers can't be reasonable - human beings have the ability to be rational - but we all want it our way if we can have it that way.

I don't think that will change though - people with power are in charge of such things - maybe this will change to protect this beatiful planet - too many people have money as their god and that's what they want and they have the ability to insist upon it

You do bring up interesting points of view Zoe - and I enjoy thinking about them - I feel challenged at times and this is a good thing

Re: Life can be a Pain

It only too 9 days - I totally enjoyed it

Hi @Zoe7 @Shaz51 @utopia @MDT @TAB @Appleblossom @BlueBay @Former-Member

This is my absolutely fantastic jigsaw puzzle that my daughter gave me three Christmases ago and I could do it because my old Companion Cat thought was just for her and wanted to play with the pieces - so I put it away and forgot about it

How wonderful to realise I still had it and it did take 9 wonderful days to do it - I had to make the objects first and then the printing followed by the edges and finished up with the asteroid belt - I couldn't leave it alone

Re: Life can be a Pain

What a wonderful jigsaw to have done @Owlunar I find the solar system interesting and always love doing that area with the kids at school.

I am pleased I can assist with challenging your thinking - I think we all need that little bit of mental stimulus at times and I too enjoy thinking 'outside the box' and more laterally in some areas. I have always been described as a deep thinker but that can also pose many problems as I also then get annoyed/sad/overwhelmed by all the complexities and layers in those thoughts - so it is both an advantage and detrimental to my health at times.

Like you I enjoy the privacy of my own home - me and the fur babies are quite happy and secure in our little home - which is actually surprising because I never thought I would be able to live in a house because I was scare of the access that that would entail. I used to live in a second floor flat and I felt safe there - but as soon as I saw this house I also had that same sense of safety. Our backyard is fully contained so there is no access from the street unless one goes through the garage - so not only can my fur babies move freely in and out of the house but there is that extra sense of safety for me as no-one can get into the back yard. I also heightened the fences with trellises so no-one can get over ...as well as making it higher for Cat not to be able to get out. So it it my safe and happy place.

I do hope the pain specialist can fix your shoulder with his majic needles - I need one of those in my back - it is not too bad at the moment - which is surprising with all the painting I have been doing - but when it flares up the pain is constant. Fingers crossed it stays as it is because as it is now is bearable.

Cooking a few things for myself tonight now I have been to the shop for things I forgot the other day. One I will do in the slow cooker so will have that cooking overnight - that will be lunch tomorrow sorted.

Hope you have a good rest of the afternoon. Hugs from me, Tobes and Cat.

Take care Hon 💕
