Life can be a Pain

Life can be a Pain

Hi @BlueBay@Zoe7@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@utopia@oceangirl@TAB@Shaz51@PeppiPatty

I know there are more people I could tag but maybe I will think them up as I go along - actually I already have

I think I need my own thread - mostly my problem is chronic pain syndrome - I damaged my spine with the sporting excesses of my youth - a long time ago now - and I managed to rearrange it when I fell of my pushbike in a wind storm nearly 22 years ago and that seems a long time ago now but there is nothing they can do except treat the pain - and I do have Section 8 medication and I see a pain specialist

And the pain has been worse lately and wears me down and I get fed up and very tired -

I have issues with my mother as well - and although she died 2 years ago I still have bad times now and again - she was abusive and as well as I know myself and her this can get to me at times - and this is another reason I opened my own thread

Then there is TS - my Toxic Sister - she was under my skin for a while but not at the moment

So yesterday I felt so bad when I went to see the doctor about my back pain - and my pain specialist has cut my medication back several times over the last few years and she has gone too far - and I started to tell my doctor - yes - I cope with the pain better since my mother died - but it's driving me crackers atm and so are the memories of my mother

So that's it for now - I have had trouble opening this thread for some reason but now I have - I will run my own story - I would like to think I don't need to but yes - I do

You are all such wonderful supportive people - you are my soft place to land - that is so true

And anyone I have missed I will tag as I go along

Lots of hugs everyone

Hi again @outlander

It sounds rather like an allergy because you had been cleaning.

Is the cough dry or juicy. A dry cough is a symptom of COVID-19 - a sore throat can happen but it's not as indicative as the cough - neither is a runny nose.

So I hope that's hopeful - you do need to get a test though because you care caring for a senior citizen.

You need to try and keep away from him if possible but I doubt he would be very understanding about that and I know he can be cantankerous - that can be tricky

I know you live in NSW where the infection rate is higher - the question is have you been anywhere likely to have people there who might have it? Hard to tell of course. It must be really hard for you right now - I know you catch bugs really easily

Re: Life can be a Pain

its a nasty dry persistent cough @Owlunar that's what has me most concerned, if I cough enough then I I get a sore throat and chest pain so I want to speak with a gp anyway no other symptoms of a cold as yet so hoping its allergies.
I don't know if ive been anywhere where others have been however what I know is theres 57 cases confirmed just in my area with 12 admitted to hospital and 2 in ICU so im not playing around with it.
I understand they may be hesitant but hoping they'll agree to do it (not pleasant the test so im not looking forward to it either!) but because im around kids and elderly and someone who also works in hospital settings that they'll test it.

I actually rarely get sick like with colds flus etc but when I do get them they are pretty bad and generally last a while

yes im aware @Owlunar its quite tough atm, all we can do is support them and hope that others can work it out and move forward in the furture.

Hi @outlander

Thanks - that's really enough - I am an easy person to settle - actually

About the cough and chest pain - if the cough is that bad you really do need to be tested - do you know if they have the equipment to do the blood test after pricking your fingerls in your area. And yes - the swabs tests would be unpleasant and there are a lot of people infected in your area

I wish I could be more comforting - the best thing I think is to isolate yourself tonght and get tested asap and if for whatever reason they don't your mother - yes - I know about your mother - will have to step in until you know for sure. That's for your Pop's sake

I will be thinking about you tonight - it must be a concern because of your work -

Re: Life can be a Pain

its ok @Owlunar im sure itll work out even if it means having others step up temporarily. whatever needs o be done will just have to happen. im more concerned how other will cope since im usually the one doing everything and pop doesn't cope without me being there, mum would have to take time off work or stagger with her partner to care for the kids.

the horses are easy its just ours and my friends horses which have a huge bale of hay thatll take them about 2 weeks to finish so its honestly filling up water. im sure thye can handle feeding our own horses. I haven't had any other work and the work I do have with one other person will be totoally understanding and ill just ask her to stop payments till im back (we have an arrangement that I clean the paddock for her she just pays me on a weekly basis)

they don't do blood tests I don't think? as far as im aware they just shove a huge cotton bud swab right back into your nasal cavity to check. might be different now but ill be ringing in the moring to speak with my gp

how are you going though? how is your cat and your chronic ailments holding up atm? have you been able to speak to the pain clinics?

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi again @outlander

It seems as if it's covered if you are one of the unlucky ones with the virus. Hopefully it's a mild dose as most are - and your Mum will step in with you Pop - which will be unsettling but we all have to put up with stuff right now.

I am okay - I have been to a different pain specialist and he did some facet joint injections - that's a couple of injections into my spine - with local anaesthetic - and it has worked really well - I had a day in a private room in private hospital and was so glad to get it done I went to sleep waiting for my turn to have the procedure. Seeing as this worked out so well I will probably have radio frequency treatment which will last longer - I have very easily cut back a lot of my medication

All good news

About my cat - not good news - she passed away about 18 months ago. She was 15 and obviously unwell and the vet thought it was cancer. I didn't want to put my best friend through tests at her age and I would not have let her have chemo so she was helped over the rainbow bridge. I still miss her

I was heating noises around the house sometimes - esp in the evening - it was creepy because I would think it was my cat - strange - but it got worse and then I thought it was possums - not possums but rats - I had a pest exterminator out last week - no waiting for his help and it was a reasonable cost too - it will take a bit of time for them to go away completely because they share the neigbours roofs as well as mine.

What fun - at least I am able to sleep in my own bed now - for several nights I slept on the couch with the TV on so I couldn't hear them banging around in the roof

Life is never dull Outlander - but you already know know

Now with the virus and my age I am not supposed to go out - I am already into my 3rd week of self-imposed isolation and I am okay about it - I ama pretty used to it. I have to go to the doctor tomorrow - I can walk that far - I think that is reasonable but yeah - like so much now - inconvenient

Re: Life can be a Pain

It is quite unsettling atm @Owlunar but i can only do as tye drs say and go from there..

Thats really good about your pain and being able to come off meds. Thats really great! Im happy that finally someone has found a solution and can help you. Living with chronic pain is hard and frustrating when there doesnt seem to be any answers.

Oh yes i remember now, im very sorry, it had slipped my mind. Of course you still miss her, they are more like family then just pets. Lots of hugs for you xo.

We are pretty isolated too. Really only go out for essentials and only me eh o goes so kids and pop are reduced risk. Very high restrictions here so everyones at home unless neccessary anyway.

Re: Life can be a Pain

I heard the restrictions are high in NSW - where someone let a bunch of tourists of a ship without any isolation or testing - which was less that clever

I felt angry about that but there is no need to waste time finger-pointing - I feel really concerned for the people who are confined to one room in hotels - even 5 star rooms would be pretty tough to take for 2 weeks - I am glad the bushfires made me think twice about going away this Feb/March period as I usually do - I could have been caught somewhere - at least at home I have all my stuff - plenty to do -

As the situation continues I wonder how things will be in the projected 6 months - that seems like a long time. I am sure it will all be under control before that if people comply with the rules - darn it - there are people who won't

I live in suburbia - plenty of people around but they are not that close

I hope you are okay - please tag me to let me know how you are after you have seen your gp tomorrow
