Life can be a Pain

Life can be a Pain

Hi @BlueBay@Zoe7@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@utopia@oceangirl@TAB@Shaz51@PeppiPatty

I know there are more people I could tag but maybe I will think them up as I go along - actually I already have

I think I need my own thread - mostly my problem is chronic pain syndrome - I damaged my spine with the sporting excesses of my youth - a long time ago now - and I managed to rearrange it when I fell of my pushbike in a wind storm nearly 22 years ago and that seems a long time ago now but there is nothing they can do except treat the pain - and I do have Section 8 medication and I see a pain specialist

And the pain has been worse lately and wears me down and I get fed up and very tired -

I have issues with my mother as well - and although she died 2 years ago I still have bad times now and again - she was abusive and as well as I know myself and her this can get to me at times - and this is another reason I opened my own thread

Then there is TS - my Toxic Sister - she was under my skin for a while but not at the moment

So yesterday I felt so bad when I went to see the doctor about my back pain - and my pain specialist has cut my medication back several times over the last few years and she has gone too far - and I started to tell my doctor - yes - I cope with the pain better since my mother died - but it's driving me crackers atm and so are the memories of my mother

So that's it for now - I have had trouble opening this thread for some reason but now I have - I will run my own story - I would like to think I don't need to but yes - I do

You are all such wonderful supportive people - you are my soft place to land - that is so true

And anyone I have missed I will tag as I go along

Lots of hugs everyone

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @Owlunar ... havent seen you around for a few days. Hoping you are okay?

Also I am thinking you may have missed my latest post to you here ... bottom of previous page, dated 10th Dec. I think @BlueBay wrote just after mine came up, and hers came up on a new page. You did respond to BlueBay, but not mine. Easy to miss posts when they come in consecutively and onto a new page. I know I have done that in the past.

Anyway ... how have you been the past week, since I last posted here? Sending my best wishes to you, as always.

I'm currently filling in a bit of time in between 2 of hubbys specialist appointments this morning. One down, one to go.

Sherry 😊

Hi @Former-Member @BlueBay @Maggie @Shaz51 @Gazza75 etc

I took a short time out to refresh myself - perhaps Christmas and all the goes with is was pretty intensive - okay but there is always and empty chair that has been empty for so long it doesn't exist for anyone else by now - it does drain me though

But I am okay - being alone is fine for me and I just took it easy -

The bushfires are high in my thoughts atm - and although this isn't the place to be political and I am not really interested but it's unfair to take it out on the Prime Minister imo - he took a few days off with his family - why should he not do that - it would not have changed the situation

And considering just how many people and organisations are involved with evacuations and fire-fighting and preparedness before the fires - it is a massive community effort and let's focus on that - how people are coping with their problems and community problems - there has been some incredible courage

I am thinking about the coming year - I will be seeing the pain specialist week after next - I have been trying to cut back on one of my medications - knowing this is part of the deal with the new guy - it's not easy doing that - but I am doing it - hoping he will do facet joint injections

I was thinking of going to Cradle Mountain in March but with these firest I don't think I will be going anywhere until the winter -

Also I am wondering if I will try the U3A again this year - I was disappointed with the class I went to last year - there was a guy who wanted to change everyone's beliefs and then people started complaining about politics - it wasn't what I expected or enjoyed but I might try something like singing -

It's better to try something - it's amazing how fast last year went -

And I wish everyone the best possible year - under the current circumstances that might be inimaginable - but nevertheless the year will come to pass and I hope we can all make the best fist we can of it

@Owlunar Christmas is behind us, and the new year ahead. I wonder what the year ahead will bring. I hope some pain relief for you. Cutting back on meds is no easy task. All the best with that @Owlunar

I know you have a lot of hope in this coming appointment. Wishing you all the very best for the best outcome.

I too have been watching the bushfires, with pain in my heart, for our country in so many ways. People, homes, animals a bush land, all gone. It’s a deep tragedy, felt by us all.

Dont put off your visit to cradle mountain yet @Owlunar . March is a few mths away. It’s beautiful there, good for the soul.

I wish you all the very best for the year ahead @Owlunar , whatever you decide to do, I hope it bring you enjoyment. 💛💛💛🦉🦉🦉🦉

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @Maggie

You are right - cutting back medication isn't easy but I have been cutting back gradually for years - at my own pace and I am hoping I can continue doing so at this pace - maybe more quickly if the new specialist does facet joint injections because I know they work and he did them for me a long time ago when I was in the public system and now I can see him in the private system which means I do not have to rely on public hospitals - it might be much easier

When it comes to going into remote heavily bushed areas during bushfire seasons I am always amazed that people take their children into those places. Maybe because of my father's profession I know more about the risks than most people but also I have been to areas in Eastern Gippsland and also Eden and know how dense the bush is there - and I know Cradle Mountain also - I drove through there in heavy snow and a blizzard - wow - in 1993 - hiked there too - and the bush is thick and the area remote

I can't see myself going there and it's not just me and okay - I am getting on in years and lived my life - but every extra person is a burden during an emergency - I think I will not be travelling until winter - and I can go north - maybe Darwin or the Kimberley

But most of Australia has been hit hard by the drought and now fires - Melbourne is a pretty safe place to stay safe - we get smoke yes - but we are safer in cities - maybe that's a reason - one reason - why people live in them

But I can still dream - the fire seasons come and go - there were fires in the mountains north of Lakes Entrance when I was there last year - they were under control but there was smoke in the township and well out to sea - and I get it that this country need fires to maintain it's ecosystem

But yes - there is pain in the heart for those who are diisplaced by fires - it is a very hard thing - one thing to have it destroy our holidays and find ourselves in a bad place needing evacuation or various kinds but totally another to lose the family home and business - really hard - I can't imagine

Then we have the wildlife and I feel that ache deeply for our animals -
