Life can be a Pain

Life can be a Pain

Hi @BlueBay@Zoe7@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@utopia@oceangirl@TAB@Shaz51@PeppiPatty

I know there are more people I could tag but maybe I will think them up as I go along - actually I already have

I think I need my own thread - mostly my problem is chronic pain syndrome - I damaged my spine with the sporting excesses of my youth - a long time ago now - and I managed to rearrange it when I fell of my pushbike in a wind storm nearly 22 years ago and that seems a long time ago now but there is nothing they can do except treat the pain - and I do have Section 8 medication and I see a pain specialist

And the pain has been worse lately and wears me down and I get fed up and very tired -

I have issues with my mother as well - and although she died 2 years ago I still have bad times now and again - she was abusive and as well as I know myself and her this can get to me at times - and this is another reason I opened my own thread

Then there is TS - my Toxic Sister - she was under my skin for a while but not at the moment

So yesterday I felt so bad when I went to see the doctor about my back pain - and my pain specialist has cut my medication back several times over the last few years and she has gone too far - and I started to tell my doctor - yes - I cope with the pain better since my mother died - but it's driving me crackers atm and so are the memories of my mother

So that's it for now - I have had trouble opening this thread for some reason but now I have - I will run my own story - I would like to think I don't need to but yes - I do

You are all such wonderful supportive people - you are my soft place to land - that is so true

And anyone I have missed I will tag as I go along

Lots of hugs everyone

@Zoe7 Really good to hear your holiday is going well. Hope tomorrow’s ride is thrilling, in more ways than one. Enjoy the sun while you can, as you know, it’s changing like the wind in parts.

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @Owlunar , thanks for the update on your adventures and holiday. Really glad you are soaking up some sun and enjoying the tropics. Your visit to the acquarium sounds like a lot of fun and I bet you got to see a lot that most of us will never see.

Things are just plodiding along for Me which I don't mind. Hoping to get to my farm this weekend. We've had some vicious winds the last few days, but, thankfully they seemed to have eased off today. I hope Victoria has warmed up a little bit by the time you return home.

The helicopter ride sounds very exciting. I've been in a few small aircraft and its a very different feel to larger planes. The smallest was a gyrocopter for a joy flight. I likened it to a flying bathtub 🙂

I have flown over the reef before and its a real amazing way to see it and get a feel for just how big and beautiful it is. Not sure if you heard about the underwater volcano with pumice that is 'floating' towards the reef. They say that all kinds of organisms are jumping on board the bits that range from pea size to bigger than a basketball. The 'slick' is visible from space.

Stay safe and enjoy the rest of your trip.

Hi @Gazza75

I have seen pics of that floating island of pumice - it was on the news a couple of weeks back - and actually I have a piece of pumice I picked up of the beach when I was at the

Sunshine Coast a few weeks ago - my grand-daughter tried to convince me that it all comes from New Zeand - she might be right but I also know there are under water volcanos under the Coral Sea and I have also seen floating pumice of shore from Tower Hill in Victoria but I am comfortable with people having their own ideas

It is interesting that we know so little about what is under The Coral Sea - until last year I hadn't thought much about The Coral Sea apart from The Battle of the Coral Sea. Now I know more - I learned a lot about the life on the reef and also on the mainland here and it is a bio-logically diverse place and extremely interesting -

I have some bites or an allergy on my lower legs atm and the pharmacist suggested I keep out of the sun for a couple of days - this is perfectly okay with me - this hotel has a lot of different places where a person can chill out inside or out - wonderful pool area outside - great bar if I felt inclined to have a drink - the food is fantastic and all this area was being renovated when I was here last year - it was worth coming back this year to enjoy the improvement

I wrote the above on Monday - now it's Wedmesday and hard to believe that am flying home the day after tomorrow - it has gone so fast

The weather has been glorious - I went out on the helicopter yesterday - nothing to be afraid of @BlueBay - and it's a lot of fun - the hard part was getting in and out - I'm not getting any younger and I feel that if I don't do somethings now I never will - and it was excellent in the helicopter and I was in the front seat with the pilot - and she landed the helicopter on a little sand cay out in the reef - excellent

I have been walking along the Esplanade a lot - nearly every day - there are so many different birds here and a lot of pelicans - they are a lot bigger that the ones I have seen in Victoria - I could rave on forever about Cairns

@Zoe7 @Maggie etc

Here's a pic of the helicopter I was in flying over one of the cays - I wish all of you could enjoy something like this

Re: Life can be a Pain

So happy to read you’re having a great time @Owlunar

i love Cairns too. Love the warm weather. Haven’t been there fir a few years. Maybe next year.

Tiday is a beautiful 20 deg. Just came home from a very long walk with my d and a. About 5km.

Have a great rest if your stay. Xxx

Re: Life can be a Pain

I have been thinking about you @BlueBay

I have seen the red trees similar to the one in your picture - they are not fully out yet but I saw the red shoots and they will look fantastic soon

It really is wonderful up here - I can understand you liking it - I have a pretty decent view of the ocean here and I love the Esplanade

It's great you and D and A are taking long walks - I read that you are having trouble with your eating - that must be hard.

Right now I am missing all the vegetables I eat at home - I had some broccolini for the first time - alas - I didn't like it any better than the broccoli I don't eat ever - mmmm - the food here is fantastic though - the steak is so tender and has a red-wine sauce that is like a dream - I have not had that before - and the breakfasts are terrific

I do like my own cooking though - but so great that other people are doing everything for me - like making the king-size bed and bringing huge clean towels everyday and doing my cooking and dishes - so decadent and I am loving every minute

But I do have you in my thoughts - I know things are tough - life can be really rough at times - but your holiday is only a few weeks away - I am so glad you are getting up north soon too
