Life can be a Pain

Life can be a Pain

Hi @BlueBay@Zoe7@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@utopia@oceangirl@TAB@Shaz51@PeppiPatty

I know there are more people I could tag but maybe I will think them up as I go along - actually I already have

I think I need my own thread - mostly my problem is chronic pain syndrome - I damaged my spine with the sporting excesses of my youth - a long time ago now - and I managed to rearrange it when I fell of my pushbike in a wind storm nearly 22 years ago and that seems a long time ago now but there is nothing they can do except treat the pain - and I do have Section 8 medication and I see a pain specialist

And the pain has been worse lately and wears me down and I get fed up and very tired -

I have issues with my mother as well - and although she died 2 years ago I still have bad times now and again - she was abusive and as well as I know myself and her this can get to me at times - and this is another reason I opened my own thread

Then there is TS - my Toxic Sister - she was under my skin for a while but not at the moment

So yesterday I felt so bad when I went to see the doctor about my back pain - and my pain specialist has cut my medication back several times over the last few years and she has gone too far - and I started to tell my doctor - yes - I cope with the pain better since my mother died - but it's driving me crackers atm and so are the memories of my mother

So that's it for now - I have had trouble opening this thread for some reason but now I have - I will run my own story - I would like to think I don't need to but yes - I do

You are all such wonderful supportive people - you are my soft place to land - that is so true

And anyone I have missed I will tag as I go along

Lots of hugs everyone

Hi @Zoe7

I just love the picture I have in my head of Toby and his blanket in the trolley doing the rounds of Bunnings - what fun for both of you - I love Bunnings myself - I could walk around there without spending any money actually - for some reason I have always liked hardware

It's a pity you didn't get to see everyone open their parcels - I like watching other people unwrapping - I like to guess my parcels by feeling them, weighing them - rattling them sometimes - other people have their little thing about it too - unwrapping as slowly as they can - and I am itching to see what's inside

We had this double aged or double distilled whisky - I had a half-shot seeing as the idea is to skoll it down in one mouthful - wow - this stuff was potent - I was telling my daughter something and I lost my place in the sentence - I felt really great and off-my-face for a short time - I am so glad I only had a little - wow - I drink very little for that reason -

I am thinking about this trip - I love flying - ah - could I fly to Bairnsdale and then stay at Lakes for a few days and then take a coach right up the coast to Sydney and fly back? Maybe stop at a couple of places for a day or two on the east coast and take a couple of days in Darling Harbour and take Harbour trips?

This is the fun part - planning - and I have the time to do it - sometimes I think I go to places so I can fly - there is so much I want to see - my trip to Cairns was so great I want to do it again next year - maybe I can see Uluru at the same time

The possibilities are endless

It was a while before I went to bed @outlander - I started playing a game with music of course and this stopped me from hearing a local excuse for rowdiness - and when I did go to bed I slept - and did so really well

I hope you were as lucky

Toby does love coming with me when I go to different places @Owlunar He comes to Petbarn too when I go there and sits in the trolley when I have a lot to get otherwise he is just on the lead. They have water bowls out for dogs as well so it is very pet friendly. I wish there were more places that were like that

I love hearing about your adventures and even your planning for them - we can live vicariously through you when you go on your trips away. We were talking yesterday - with my mum and sister - about places we would like to visit and Sri Lanka was one that both my sister and I wanted to go to - didn't know she wanted to go there. It is not like we could both go together though as there would be no-one to look after Toby and Cat. My mother thinks they culd look after them but neither would cope with being away from their home and definitely not without me being there. My sister has stayed at my place with them before when I went to Sydney and they were okay with her. Toby really does love her so I am not surprised he was okay with her - but it might have been a different story if he was away from his home. I know you had a good time last time you were in Sydney too so putting that back on the agenda sounds like a good trip also.

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @Shaz51@Zoe7@outlander

We have hot weather forecast for the rest of the year apparently - how does that sound?

And I am sorry you won't be going away Shaz - I had the feeling Mr Shaz would get worried about something - how rotten to feel like that - for both of you - unsettling.

I am enjoying thinking about my trip - I will have to make some plans soon because time will go really fast once I book things - Sydney can get really humid in summer but my thoughts on staying there are cruising around the Harbour on the hop-on-hop-off tickets that last for two days - and the next time I will stay right down in Darling Harbour or perhaps near Circular Quay - I love it there and I was seeing places I have been around Circular Quay in a movie recently - and I love this -

Going away gets easier with practise - I can be as rough as I need to be in a crowd which is a new thing for me - there are times when manners can be ignored - he who hesitates looses his luggage if he lets the crowd stop him from grabbing it - I could go on

I have so many little stories about my travels and I started this in October 15 when I went to Launceston - I went economy and the plane had to wait for the crowd at the airport to get through getting their boarding pass and now I know to do all of this with my agent the day before I leave

It would be great if you could travel to Sri Lanka with your sister Zoe - but yes - pets need to be cared for properly - I don't know how much longer I can travel - but I have met ladies in their 80s travelling alone - after I retired from plane trips I might get an old cat - I don't know - they are a lot of work for someone in their 80s -

Anyway - I don't know if the birds have found their bird-bath yet - but they have been eating the bread I left on the table next to it - give them time - I will get some bird seed at the supermarket tomorrow

I hope everyone sleeps well - it's a pretty warm night here and it's very cloudy - I might settle down with a book for a while

All the best everyone

Re: Life can be a Pain

I love that you have put bread outfor the birds near the bird bath @Owlunar - it is like training any animal - you need to do it in stages. Hopefully the birds will find the bird bath soon - it would be wonderful for them in the heat also.

There are plenty of places I would love to travel to but I also am a homebody - would rather be home with my fur babies ...and don't have the money to even think about travelling. I certainly could not go with my sister because there would be no=one to look after the fur babies. She has her partner to look after hers and although she would look after mine for me I wouldn't be able to go for more than a few days.

Hopefully going to the Taste of Tasmania today Dec - have you been before? It is a wonderful array of Tassie produce with so many food and drink stalls to choose from. It is right on the wharf so you can also stroll around and see the yachts that have come in. It is lovely if you can get a seat on the wharf itself but there are seats inside also. Going to hopefully be going with my sister's partner's family so it should be a nice afternoon.

It is also supposed to be mid 20s today so the weather will be beautiful - great drying day also so getting some more washing done today also.

Hope you have a chilled out day Dec - hugs and love to you Hon

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @Zoe7

We are in for another warm humid day I think - it was raining a bit earlier but the sun seems to be making an effort to break out now - I like the warm weather but the heat knocks me out a bit in my old age - or maybe it's my BP medication - that has side effects too and when I wake up after falling asleep in my chair watching TV in the afternoon I feel really over-heated - I have tried putting a damp tea-towel around my neck and that makes it easier - I would rather have the heat than the cold

Training the local birds - yes - that's a good idea - I think the bird seed in sticks might be better than the bread - I can tell the difference between seeing where the birds have been feasting and when a slice has been swiped by a possum - actually I think the possums don't like it here anymore than most of us want them but they are native wild-life and I have seen them on my fence or clothes-line at night - sometimes with a baby on their back - they are cute but not my best friends

I always felt as if Companion Cat was my responsibility and I could not bring myself to leave her in a cattery when she had never been away from home before - she had the run of the house and until the last time I think she was okay here - probably missed me a lot but it was just for a few days. She meant more to me than going away though I managed both for 3 years - I miss my little mate but I know she's okay - she might havre been suffering too much if I had kept her for longer but I still feel her presence - yesterday the breeze was blowing the front screen door a bit and it sounded just like the cat jumping on the door to let me know she wanted to come in - my daughter told me that their old dog used to lie on the door mat outside the back door and they still take a long stride when they go out so as not to step on him and he has been gone for over 16 years - I do believe that what we love and loved us has a spirit and this can remain for a long time

I would love to visit Hobart again but right now it stings that my relatives have gone somewhere else - I would love to go to the Taste of Tasmania - it is so clean in Tassie the produce is really fresh - I have forgotten how many times I have been to Tasmania - I tried lots of things when I was in Launceston with my relatives in 2010 when seems a long time ago now - one place I really loved was the Jail House Grill - the steaks there were wonderful - I could cut them with my fork - I couldn't find it when I went back in 2015 but going back to Tassie is something I will do again

I hope your washing dries well today and that you and your furry family have a good day - all the best

Re: Life can be a Pain

Tassie is a beautiful place @Owlunar and I do love living here. Everything is so close to the city too - beaches, bush walks, fresh food and stunning views are everywhere. It is also so clean and the air is fresh - even in the city. I definitely notice the difference when I travel to other major cities - that city smell is not present here.

I would love for you to be here in Hobart and going to the Taste with me - we could sit on the wharf and watch the world go by whilst eating wonderful food and maybe a drink or two That is the only down-side of the forum - we make such wonderful connections here but will never really know each other - I think a real life forum party would be amazing - maybe one day!
