Life can be a Pain

Life can be a Pain

Hi @BlueBay@Zoe7@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@utopia@oceangirl@TAB@Shaz51@PeppiPatty

I know there are more people I could tag but maybe I will think them up as I go along - actually I already have

I think I need my own thread - mostly my problem is chronic pain syndrome - I damaged my spine with the sporting excesses of my youth - a long time ago now - and I managed to rearrange it when I fell of my pushbike in a wind storm nearly 22 years ago and that seems a long time ago now but there is nothing they can do except treat the pain - and I do have Section 8 medication and I see a pain specialist

And the pain has been worse lately and wears me down and I get fed up and very tired -

I have issues with my mother as well - and although she died 2 years ago I still have bad times now and again - she was abusive and as well as I know myself and her this can get to me at times - and this is another reason I opened my own thread

Then there is TS - my Toxic Sister - she was under my skin for a while but not at the moment

So yesterday I felt so bad when I went to see the doctor about my back pain - and my pain specialist has cut my medication back several times over the last few years and she has gone too far - and I started to tell my doctor - yes - I cope with the pain better since my mother died - but it's driving me crackers atm and so are the memories of my mother

So that's it for now - I have had trouble opening this thread for some reason but now I have - I will run my own story - I would like to think I don't need to but yes - I do

You are all such wonderful supportive people - you are my soft place to land - that is so true

And anyone I have missed I will tag as I go along

Lots of hugs everyone

that is wonderful to hear @Owlunar

we do so have to learn to make life easier for ourselves

i have 2 cats and yes one tries to get on beds but she picks out grass seeds and burs and leaves a mess of black fur. she is calico long hair. the other is blue short hair but malts heavily. he deposits his fur on the top of the headrests of the ivory settee!! wonderful when someone comes and out of the corner of my eye i see his trail.

animals are very loving and good company xxx

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @Former-Member

The cold weather is starting to get to me - I spent yesterday busily doing nothing and finally went to sleep - but I am cold and chilly today - I have the heater on - and I have chores that have accumulated - how fast that happens!!

Yeah - cats sure leave a trail - I only have one and she is a choc tortie short hair - but there is always summer shed or winter shed around the house - she's a small cat but has a lot of fur - all different colours - and she is getting white hair around her eyes and on her chin - I guess we would call this going grey in humans - I have a bit of white hair myself

Cold weather makes my back ache - sorry to keep whinging about it but right now I am feeling achey and this gets to me - I am seeing my doctor today - I see him twice a week - and I am seeing my pain specialist in a few weeks - not that I expect anything to change - but she authorizes my pain medication - I am taking a lot less than I used to and this pleases her - ho hum - nuff sed - but my doctor is writing to her to make sure she knows that I have more pain that she can see in 15 minutes twice a year

That's enough about that -

Re: Life can be a Pain

hello @Owlunar

weather does affect aches and pains

specialists that see you once or twice a year....hmm ...they need to listen and a written update from your doctor might draw attention. I am assuming this gp is the referring gp.

If so ask the gp to do this.

Physical pain exacerbates mental pain...a vicious circle

i am seeing a physiotherapist at the moment, hamstring tightness, some lower back stuff...nothing major

however even with that have noticed affect on mental side as well as my glands

so you are not whingeing .... you are in real pain and deserve to be listened to

hope you get some enjoyment out of your day though

was just about to head off for a walk but chucking it down with rain now

hopefully later......

Re: Life can be a Pain

You are right @Former-Member - cold weather makes aches and pains worse and turns aches into pains and drives pain up the scale

Yes - my doctor is my gp and he is going to write a note to my pain specialist that my pain fluctuates and can go off the scale in seconds with what would be a slight knock for other circumstances

Last Friday all the stupid trolley-demented dingbats were in the supermarket - and my carer asked if an A-Frame would help - and no - it wouldn't - they move around too much of their own accord - as does the trolley if I was to hold onto it - but I think I am going to have to use my crutches for a while - to keep standing up straight - I have a pair of those elbow crutches that keep my weight on my feet but help me to stand up straight

But I guess you are not surprised that people do not always see them - ah - people can be so RUDE - last Friday I swore about them when I told my doctor - I was in so much pain

Hamstring tightness - and lower back - um - yes - I can see that - I am hoping the physio can help - this has been something I have done in the past but can't see the point in seeing one just to have heat on my back when I do this anyway. I guess he recommends exercises - I hope it is working for you

I think the mental side of my life is on madly flucuating at this time of year - I had a bad day about my son last Wednesday and I rang Life Line and it helped - though when I rang I didn't know what I was going to talk about - I am past talking about it all - but I think sometimes I need it - I use my medicare visits to see a therapist and hope they will last the whole year

But whatever - one thing sets other stuff off - I lost my appetite over the weekend but I am preparing something for lunch between posts

Enjoyment - yes - having a decent meal will help and I am warming up with the heater and the computer which feels pretty good too - and darn - The Biggest Loser is more important than Dr Phil - I sure get sick and tired of these elimination shows

Okay - enjoyment - I really love the incongruent - the MasterChef starts again tonight - after all this hype with the girl bringing out her golden ball and the chefs asking "What is that?" - and she grins a proud but silly grin and says "It's a golden ball" - ah - we can see that -

But - butbutbut - tonight I think we find out what is inside the Golden Ball

I'm looking forward to that bit - sheesh - I must be desperate

Re: Life can be a Pain

Tuesday morning - and I have good news

My domestic help came at 9.00am - too early - yes - but this is someone I know and she is happy for me to go back to bed and I kept out of her way while she did the chores and she did them very well

Also - she is my regular Tuesday person now - to come every alternate Tuesday - and she is a very thorough worker

It's rather cold here today but the sun is out and there is a stiff breeze - I feel much better after seeing my doctor yesterday - and I told him I will need a note for my specialist in a few weeks - I always feel nervous when I go to see her but she is a very kind person - it's just that she doesn't see my whole picture - just tiny windows that can't give her a good picture about my life

But the injection I had yesterday has worked very well - I went to sleep at the clinic after I had it - when I have to go and lie down in the recovery room after an injection - it was a perfect power nap - I knew I was napping and where I was - and felt like a different person after - and still do

And how great to have a person who comes in and cleans while I go back to bed - I am a slow starter in the morning - and I went to bed early last night too - forgot about the cleaner coming so early and left my dinner dishes all over the kitchen - and this lovely lady tidied the whole kitchen - which I do myself most evenings but last night all I wanted to do was go to bed

So right now it feels good - I have to ring the vet to make an appointment to have my cat's claws clipped - it's getting really painful to have that cat trying to make me let her be comfortable in my bed

Grrrrrrrrrrrr - me - Prrrrrrrrrrr - her

Yes @Shaz51 - there is a lot of good news in there - and I fell asleep watching TV last night - I was recording what I was watching so I could watch it when I woke up and when I did go to bed - I went straight to sleep again

I am feeling much better this week - let's hope it lasts for a few more days

How is your kidney infection going? Are you recovering - I hope so

Thinking of you Shaz - you have a lot of issues to contend with - your health and your husband's MI and your work - you really are a person with a lot to cope with and it seems - you do fairly well - very well considering

hello @Owlunar @Shaz51

your good news brought a smile to my face.

wonderful that you have someone who is employed to come into your private home, work as you have requested whilst respecting your privacy and your dignity.

Bonus she is going to be regular and permanent.

Injection to assist with your pain is helping.

Things are improving all around you Dec and of course there is a snowball effect.

Am so pleased for you.

Mr and Mrs Shaz hope that life is treating you kindly also. Have not visited self care thread as promised will try and stop by shortly.
