Life can be a Pain

Life can be a Pain

Hi @BlueBay@Zoe7@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@utopia@oceangirl@TAB@Shaz51@PeppiPatty

I know there are more people I could tag but maybe I will think them up as I go along - actually I already have

I think I need my own thread - mostly my problem is chronic pain syndrome - I damaged my spine with the sporting excesses of my youth - a long time ago now - and I managed to rearrange it when I fell of my pushbike in a wind storm nearly 22 years ago and that seems a long time ago now but there is nothing they can do except treat the pain - and I do have Section 8 medication and I see a pain specialist

And the pain has been worse lately and wears me down and I get fed up and very tired -

I have issues with my mother as well - and although she died 2 years ago I still have bad times now and again - she was abusive and as well as I know myself and her this can get to me at times - and this is another reason I opened my own thread

Then there is TS - my Toxic Sister - she was under my skin for a while but not at the moment

So yesterday I felt so bad when I went to see the doctor about my back pain - and my pain specialist has cut my medication back several times over the last few years and she has gone too far - and I started to tell my doctor - yes - I cope with the pain better since my mother died - but it's driving me crackers atm and so are the memories of my mother

So that's it for now - I have had trouble opening this thread for some reason but now I have - I will run my own story - I would like to think I don't need to but yes - I do

You are all such wonderful supportive people - you are my soft place to land - that is so true

And anyone I have missed I will tag as I go along

Lots of hugs everyone

I had a friend with congenital rubella when I was growing up @Shaz51 - she had limited vision and was a little hard of hearing - I meant her years later when we were adults and she had hearing aids - she had difficulties walking as well

As a child it never mattered to me that she had limitations - I was friends with her and her sister and we played together a lot - I know kids can sometimes be cruel but it never occurred to me - we were very good friends

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi everyone - just checking in before I go to bed

I had a bad headache today but I feel okay this evening and I have just been catching up - I tried to post a few messages in the morning but it got the better of me - I am blaming the humidity

But I am actually starting to think about Christmas - I have really been putting it all off - not a good idea but practical sometimes - I do not want to go to the shopping mall with the crowds but I will see what I can buy at the local shops

What a lot of rain we had - so much of it - I started to wonder where it was all coming from and where it was all going

Well - I can tell you - it is in the air - humidity

All the best everyone and I hope you all sleep well

Re: Life can be a Pain

Thanks @Zoe7

It is wonderful to have the support of the forum during the bad dates - I had the headache again yesterda - my doctor thought the migraine was from stress and it wasn't as bad yesterday but I was as flat as a tack all day and went to bed really early and slept all night - I must have been tired

I am learning that my son's dates have a huge effect on me - the adoption date was going to be something I would ignore - but no - I was okay on Sunday but the I got the headaches - it will get me somewhere and I have asked myself that we can learn a lot about cognitive behaviour and learn that there is nothing we can do about the past and get on with our lives and accept the way things are but still - they will creep up and get us somewhere along the line

After such a long sleep I woke up feeling better and read for a while before getting up - the fonts in my copy of Jane Eyre are too small and it is so hard to read those long conversations she has with Mr Rochester - mystery plus - that man is an enigma and when the truth comes out it is too horrible to imagine - such a great story - but I have stopped reading it again and started something else - hopefully I can get another copy in Penguin or something with bigger fonts - let's hope so anyway

So Christmas - yes - I will have to do something I think - my plans are up in the air because I don't know what I am doing yet - money for my nearest and dearest I think - and a couple of parcels to unwrap - I don't know about the rest of the family yet - I might even end up going to church this year - which will be something different

All the best today and the rest of the time winding up at school Zoe

Re: Life can be a Pain

Anniversary dates can affect us both physically and emotionally @Owlunar and despite us knowing these dates are coming the intensity of these feelings often creep up on us and manifest into physical symptoms - so it is no wonder you had a migraine. Hope you are feeling a little better as the days go on.

Christmas sounds like it may be a very quiet one for you so surround yourself with the things you like - plenty of self-care and if you can spend some time with your daughter that is great. How is her recovery going?

Re: Life can be a Pain

Thanks @Zoe7

I am really tired again today after going to bed early last night - I did read for a long time and I was surprised how long I did read before I went to sleep

Really - it's to be expected - a lot has been happening over the last weeks - a quiet Christmas will be appreciated - and plan my trip to Lakes Entrance in February after the kids have gone back to school and accommodation will be easier to get - and this time perhaps fly back to make the return trip easier- I can think about that

My daughter is recovering on schedule I am sure - I texted with her yesterday and my grand-daughter is packing to move back with her parents when the lease on her flat expired very soon

Then she will be planning to go to Queenland - and so life goes on -

Your support has been so valuable - I know I will always be okay - I think I have just been overwhelmed

Re: Life can be a Pain

I am sure you will be okay @Owlunar but it is nice having others look out for us a bit as well. We are so independant that we often forget that we don't have to do everything on our own and that goes for emotional support as well. It has been really good seeing you reach out here over the last couple of months - that connection and venting is often what we need to help us move past the tougher times - and you certainly have had some of those recently. Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @BlueBay@Shaz51@Zoe7

I am just dropping in to let everyone know I am okay - better than okay

I have been flat-out busy - on Friday and over the weekend I did all my Christmas shopping and wrapped the parcels myself this year - I usually get someone else to do it - I am not handy in that way -

And today I was at my daughter's place with my family - just 5 or us - it was fun having pressies and people liked money - that's such a good thing - and we had a wonderful dinner - and I came home and went to sleep for hours - really tired

I will catch up tomorrow - I hope everyone's day was the best it could be

Happy Christmas and a Merry New Year everyone
