Life can be a Pain

Life can be a Pain

Hi @BlueBay@Zoe7@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@utopia@oceangirl@TAB@Shaz51@PeppiPatty

I know there are more people I could tag but maybe I will think them up as I go along - actually I already have

I think I need my own thread - mostly my problem is chronic pain syndrome - I damaged my spine with the sporting excesses of my youth - a long time ago now - and I managed to rearrange it when I fell of my pushbike in a wind storm nearly 22 years ago and that seems a long time ago now but there is nothing they can do except treat the pain - and I do have Section 8 medication and I see a pain specialist

And the pain has been worse lately and wears me down and I get fed up and very tired -

I have issues with my mother as well - and although she died 2 years ago I still have bad times now and again - she was abusive and as well as I know myself and her this can get to me at times - and this is another reason I opened my own thread

Then there is TS - my Toxic Sister - she was under my skin for a while but not at the moment

So yesterday I felt so bad when I went to see the doctor about my back pain - and my pain specialist has cut my medication back several times over the last few years and she has gone too far - and I started to tell my doctor - yes - I cope with the pain better since my mother died - but it's driving me crackers atm and so are the memories of my mother

So that's it for now - I have had trouble opening this thread for some reason but now I have - I will run my own story - I would like to think I don't need to but yes - I do

You are all such wonderful supportive people - you are my soft place to land - that is so true

And anyone I have missed I will tag as I go along

Lots of hugs everyone

Re: Life can be a Pain

it takes time my second mum @Owlunar, even then there are still little things that still get me with my darling missie xxxx

My mum would love to have another cat but she says she is too old to go through it all again

how is your daughter going today ,hope she is a lot better xx

Re: Life can be a Pain

Thanks @Shaz51

I haven't been in touch with my daughter for a few days - it's time to text her again and see - if things were tough she would be keeping it to herself I guess

(Sigh) I know where she gets that from - even though she had just had an operation she looked better on Monday than I had seen her for a long time.

Yes - your Mum would like another cat for sure - I would too but they are work and being older makes some of that work harder - I found the arthritis in my left hand made it too hard to scruff my cat to get the drops onto her neck - she was winning those fights - and of course - taking on another cat when we get older means we are likely to outlive the pet and that is a problem I would not like to leave behind

I will still have my moments I am sure - I am okay today though

@Owlunar, soo my mum has gone to feeding the birds everyday , sitting on her patio watching the birds in the bird bath I brought her , she has now lots of birds visiting and even the honey suckers have made a nest on the patio xxxx

my mum was put back in hospital last night and today mum asked me if I have feed the birds yet

Re: Life can be a Pain

A bird bath and feeding the birds - wow - that is a good idea @Shaz51

Your Mum need not bother though - when she is in hospital the birds will find their own food so that is a good idea - I like it

I was just watching Mr Holland's Opus - you might know it - a musician and composer who really loved music had to give up his writing to take on teaching for an income and his son was deaf and this was so hard for him - I love this movie

Yes ago I thought I would learn to sign - I think I might go ahead and find out about that - I could go and visit deaf people who could sign then - I know it is socially isolating to be deaf -

Anyway - I am still getting over myself but the idea of learning to sign would be interesting

a lot of people have asked me if i can sign read -- no

Re: Life can be a Pain

My mother lost her hearing @Shaz51 and she refused to wear her hearing aids - that was her choice - people don't have to hear if they don't want to - but I think she was really lost in the silence and yelled loudly at everyone -

I was so embarrassed when I visited her - I told me GP about it - after all - I am not deaf so I could hear her fine - and me GP told me that she couldn't hear herself -

That must have been awful for her

Dad had lost his sight - and he seemed happy enough - nothing ever seemed to get him down - and of course he could talk to people and hear what they said -

Being deaf must be so lonely - I really can't imagine what that would be like

Being deaf must be so lonely, --- sure is @Owlunar

I am totally deaf in one ear and 75 % deaf in the other ear , it is golly hard with the hearing aid as you hear a lots of background noice

I really can't imagine what that would be like --- been there @Owlunar, sooo hard when you aswer people with the wrong answer and they look at you like "WHAT"

Re: Life can be a Pain

I didn't realise you had hearing loss @Shaz51 - I have heard there is a lot of interference when hearing aids are involved -

It would be good to be able to read sign but then - people have to be able to sign - it is a very difficult problem -

Are you able to read lips? That can't be easy either - but a lot of people read lips without knowing it

I think it must be horribly isolating

it was soo funny as mum used to say boy that tv is loud -- but when I got the hearing aid , I could hear the kids talking and had to turn the tv down
