Life can be a Pain

Life can be a Pain

Hi @BlueBay@Zoe7@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@utopia@oceangirl@TAB@Shaz51@PeppiPatty

I know there are more people I could tag but maybe I will think them up as I go along - actually I already have

I think I need my own thread - mostly my problem is chronic pain syndrome - I damaged my spine with the sporting excesses of my youth - a long time ago now - and I managed to rearrange it when I fell of my pushbike in a wind storm nearly 22 years ago and that seems a long time ago now but there is nothing they can do except treat the pain - and I do have Section 8 medication and I see a pain specialist

And the pain has been worse lately and wears me down and I get fed up and very tired -

I have issues with my mother as well - and although she died 2 years ago I still have bad times now and again - she was abusive and as well as I know myself and her this can get to me at times - and this is another reason I opened my own thread

Then there is TS - my Toxic Sister - she was under my skin for a while but not at the moment

So yesterday I felt so bad when I went to see the doctor about my back pain - and my pain specialist has cut my medication back several times over the last few years and she has gone too far - and I started to tell my doctor - yes - I cope with the pain better since my mother died - but it's driving me crackers atm and so are the memories of my mother

So that's it for now - I have had trouble opening this thread for some reason but now I have - I will run my own story - I would like to think I don't need to but yes - I do

You are all such wonderful supportive people - you are my soft place to land - that is so true

And anyone I have missed I will tag as I go along

Lots of hugs everyone

Re: Life can be a Pain

You are right @Owlunar. Women need to be strong to withstand all the issues our female bodies give us. And the attitude some men give us.
I think in the past there was not a lot of work put into women's health in general. Yes it's improved but still not great.
Do you know that most medicines that have been approved for use - were trialed on men only!!
Women react differently to different meds. Women react differently when ill with the sameillness than men.

Re: Life can be a Pain

So true @utopia

Men do seem to suffer more though and some weeks back it was a subject on The Project - and the outcome - apparently man-flu is real and men are really a lot sicker with flu of the same degree of suffering than women

It's because we have more estrogen generally and it helps us - and we need that because there is no time out for mothers - the man of the family can lay low and moan gently when his equally ill wife tends the children - does the housework, often works outside the home etc on and on - and thought man-flu was a fact but not so

So the hormone which gives us all this difference - oh wow - the one we need to do the hardest job of all - bring a new life into the world - makes us physically weaker and smaller and we suffer less from the flu - ever get the feeling we can't win

I told my uncle this - he was amazed - I was asked where I learn all the information I have - that's easy - I watch docos and similar programmes and then look things up on the internet and I have a memory to envy -

So - we can rearrange our ideas and men -'em - can too because man-flu is real. And when I went searching for clipart I found another site telling me about it

I hope no one is devastated - and we will be kind to you guys here when you are crook

Glad it went well for both yourself and your daughter @Owlunar ❤

Re: Life can be a Pain

Yes - thanks @outlander

The important parts of the day went well - the new doctor was okay about my medication and my daughter - more importantly - had her operation and was home really fast afterwards

I got the jitters during the afternoon - I know what was causing them - that doesn't make them any easier - anything to do with my medication makes me uneasy - and I had the TV on for background noise and heard an argument about my kind of medication and thought - "Can they not talk about something else?"

So I turned the TV off and tried to do something else - but alas - I have too much on my mind lately - the days I had to myself were pretty peaceful but now reality returns and my stress goes - way up.

How has your day been - do your sisters go back to school this week - here it's already school holidays. The battery in my watch is flat and I need to go to the mall for another one but I don't go there in the holidays and it's amazing how often I look at my wrist and really miss my watch

But this is life and I hope the holidays are not too rough on you - do you go to your mothers place to babysit or do they come to your house?

And how is your sore hand - have you got broken fingers or are the bones in the wrist bruised? - it's a pest to have sore hands because they mean we can't do all we are needing to -

And how is your Pop -- did he have a good holiday over Easter? -

Btw it suddenly occurred to me - we are in the same class of people - we are accident-prone - I bet you are tall and inclined to be lanky - that's me - my extra weight from being just plain older and less active doesn't change the long arms and legs and broad shoulders etc - I just have trouble fitting myself into small places - I never can keep my arms and legs still and knock things over, drop things - just a general klutz - all those who are accident prone - you are in good company

Re: Life can be a Pain

I understand @outlander - I fell asleep on the computer - definitely time to go to bed

It is important to at least get into a restful situation even if you think you mightn't sleep - so now is the time to go as I am - and tomorrow will be fine to answer

Goodnight and get as much sleep as possible - I intend to -

Re: Life can be a Pain

Thanks @utopia

If that's the man-flu one - I think it's so true - my ex and the flu - I would have cared if he had taken one headache tablet - but alas he did not want to do that

But can us girls win? Are we really tougher in some ways because of estrogen?

And yes - when I last posted I forgot what you said that drug trials were performed with men and women do have different physical and emotional reactions - that makes us different in many ways and

I do often wonder why and how women became the inferior members of society because it seems that has been the case forever - a lot of primitive tribles treat the women as second class - aw - that is hard

Maybe being treated as different and somehow "less than" is one reason women seem more represented in the Mental Health Department - we have more people in hospitals with MI - more women take psychotrophic prescription drugs

But then - this doesn't mean men don't suffer - ask them - they are worse when they get the flu and has science helped us but telling us estrogen helps us

After a long, quiet and private weekend I have a busy week - how are you feeling today?

Re: Life can be a Pain

Feeling awful today @Owlunar. Realised this afternoon that I've missed 2 days of meds. So I'm ahakey and irritable and just plain miserable. Trust me to forget to refill my med dispenser.
But as mum said, I've been busy and my routine is out of whack and we've had my sons girlfriend over, which means I've needed to put in a lot of effort to be 'present' & communicate. That in iitself would have taken a lot out of me. Add in the missed anti depressants - and I'm a mess.
My mum has taken my son to work and is entertaining his girlfriend til her train comes. She will have my son at her house tonight. He is not happy about it, but I've explained I need to be alone to cry or throw a tantrum or whatever else I need to do, to get through this time until my meds kick in.
Poor boy. He hates me sending him away to mums. But on days like this, I have no alternative.

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @utopia

Missed two days of medication - aw - that is a tough one - I agree with your Mum - you have been busy and not thinking about it - your mind has been on "being present" and communicating with your son's girl-friend being over - that has to be tough.

How much does it cost us - this being present and communicating with someone when our thoughts are drawing us elsewhere - I know I try and hide my pain at times and my medication is something I can't miss - I notice if I have - or when it has been a while since I had something - it can become public often but still

Why do we torture ourselves pretending the emotional stuff is not there - I was talking to Life Line yesterday - really nice guy - easy to talk to - I don't feeling at all about my feelings to anyone in my everyday life - yes - I can tell them my son died, where and how - but not about my feelings - so that is a new thing for me - the people in my life come and go - I will be seeing them again and really don't want to mention at so many years later I can still have a bad day - a really bad day - a disastrous day -

Yikes - I will be seeing this person again and I do not want sympathy and I screw up inside when someone says "Poor thing" because I am not and I don't feel sorry for myself - but sorrow yes and I am allow to but also - you stay "present" and communicate for similar reasons I assume - reckon - guess - you have to see this person again and the truth of our emotional life is sensitve and private

Ring any bells

Okay - I saw this different doctor - new GP at the clinic where I go - and she starting fretting about my blood pressure because whenever I have had it taken and it has been recorded I have been in pain - serious pain - that alone can send the BP up - and then talking about my medication with a different doctor was stressful - and I was sweating and stressed out - so yes

Now I have blood pressure tablets and a blood pressure machine - I can stop worrying - my BP was normal last night when I took at after I had been watching TV for a while - and my resting BP first thing was normal - I took my first tablet and after chatting with my domestic helper today it was higher but when I got back from the supermaret - it was normal again

So I don't know but if my BP is high because of pain or stress and I have enough stress right now - it still needs to be watched and treated - but I am totally convinced I am totally stressed out at times and not all the time -

So yeah - I feel okay today - I have had triggers all week but I am a survivor - just getting older and I have no control over the stress in my life but I can meditate and do - so seeing as I have a BP machine I can test my BP before and after meditating and see what works
