Life can be a Pain

Life can be a Pain

Hi @BlueBay@Zoe7@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@utopia@oceangirl@TAB@Shaz51@PeppiPatty

I know there are more people I could tag but maybe I will think them up as I go along - actually I already have

I think I need my own thread - mostly my problem is chronic pain syndrome - I damaged my spine with the sporting excesses of my youth - a long time ago now - and I managed to rearrange it when I fell of my pushbike in a wind storm nearly 22 years ago and that seems a long time ago now but there is nothing they can do except treat the pain - and I do have Section 8 medication and I see a pain specialist

And the pain has been worse lately and wears me down and I get fed up and very tired -

I have issues with my mother as well - and although she died 2 years ago I still have bad times now and again - she was abusive and as well as I know myself and her this can get to me at times - and this is another reason I opened my own thread

Then there is TS - my Toxic Sister - she was under my skin for a while but not at the moment

So yesterday I felt so bad when I went to see the doctor about my back pain - and my pain specialist has cut my medication back several times over the last few years and she has gone too far - and I started to tell my doctor - yes - I cope with the pain better since my mother died - but it's driving me crackers atm and so are the memories of my mother

So that's it for now - I have had trouble opening this thread for some reason but now I have - I will run my own story - I would like to think I don't need to but yes - I do

You are all such wonderful supportive people - you are my soft place to land - that is so true

And anyone I have missed I will tag as I go along

Lots of hugs everyone

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @Former-Member@Adge@outlander@utopia

Hi friends - I am home from hospital - my daughter picked me up and brought me home and has just gone home herself after getting me a sandwich from the coffee shop and I will have that when I feel hungry

It was pretty easy in a private hospital - I had people asking me how I was and bringing me ice packs and medication and food and coffee and water and wow - I spoke the the anaesthetist on Monday and then again before the operation and he was aware that I react the way I have done to a GA and he did his best and I didn't get a head rush or know anything about the operation - I said - "Will you tell me when you start the GA" - he said "Yes" and I felt things shift a bit and asked him if it had started and he said "No" but I am sure it had - the next thing I was in recovery and it was all over

I am glad I stayed overnight - the pain got bad during the night and I was between doses but it all worked out and I saw the surgeon and the physio-therapist before I came home and I am glad that is over and the recovery can begin

Thanks for all the pics and best wishes - I could see them on my phone in hospital - and Adge - I am so sorry about your baby budgie

I have to take the computer off my lap but I will figure out how to set up a table

Thanks so much everyone - I was really scatterbrained before the operation but I think my feet are back on the floor now - both of them - I can weight bear on the sore leg

@Owlunar. I'm so pleased everything went so well. I'm amazed you can weight bare on that leg already. You are one strong woman. Sounds like your recovery is going to go smoothly.

Hi @Owlunar, nice to see you!!! Glad youre home from hospital & dd is watching out for you 😀. Sounds like a healthy Hospital culture - well managed and professional, especially that anaesthetist 👍☺. It is good that you stayed overnight - the pain management worked out OK. And the surgeon saw you after, before you left hospital (private hospitals are better), and hopefully the physio gave you recovery exercises.

With my laptop, I borrow the sink dishrack, turn it upsidedown. Or a cake cooler, for air circulation on my lap.

I'm so glad your brain-feet are 'back on the floor now' lol. And pleased you can stand on both legs already.

Really do hope the surgery turns out successful for your mobility with less pain.

Thanks for getting back to us so soon, WTG Dec! You're a trooper 🙂

Hi @Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@utopia@outlander

I didn't look at the forum yesterday - I was really tired and slept a long time in the afternoon and evening - which was the best thing to do

I am still really tired - yesterday I was walking without a limp or pain during the time in the evening when I was awake - the piece of cartilage that was extruded between the bones in my knee has gone and a lot of other damaged cartilage as well and I will not need a knee replacement for a long time yet though I still have bone on bone in my knee - let's hope I can live without having to have another operation in my life-time - I guess everyone feels like that but it's when we are confronting an operation that we really focussed on that - and I am glad it is behind me

It was so great to get all the messages and pics - I loved that so much.

And the staff at the hospital were great - everyone treated me so well - but I like being at home and it's not that easy trying to attend to stuff with my crutches but I have someone coming to help me out this morning - and there are some chores to be done that wouldn't usually be an issue

I can look forward to being able to walk better as my knee recovers - I am planning to catch the bus to the beach a couple of times a week and get back into collected water-worn glass - I used to live near there and already have quite a bit of that - I actually love that stuff

And after the heat - yes Utopia - I know you have been feeling the weather in Melbourne also - I live near the beach - and I went to sleep with the doors open and the breeze blowing in - the tide must have gone out because I could smell the shellfish that must have died with the water too hot and that happens down here now and again - Companion Cat woke up when I did and started looking around the house sniffing in corners and I guess she wanted to find the fish - phewy -

Anyway - it's cooler today and I am recovering - I missed out on everyone yesterday but I do hope to pick it all up again

Re: Life can be a Pain

@Owlunar - no cool ocean breezes for me in Central Victoria. When it's hot, it's just hot.
Don't think I would have liked the smell of the shellfish - but the cooling breeze would have felt lovely.
Glad to hear you could walk on your leg yesterday. Must be a huge difference having the bone cleaned out. And it does sound like your recovery will go so well, that you probably won't need another operation. That's great news.
Nothing much happening on my end today. Just taking it easy and reading a book.

@utopia@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@outlander

It's a warm and stormy evening in Melbourne - I have been watching the storm on the BOM radar and it's not hear but I can hear the thunder and Companion Cat is hiding under my cedar chest -

Utopia - I know how much hotter it can be in Central Victoria - I have lived in the Bayside suburbs so we get the stink of dead shell fish every now and again - I do not love but with a bit of rain about the air is not stinky tonight

I saw my doctor late this afternoon - he got a report from the orthopaedic surgeon - the structure on my knee is sound and I am not likely to need that knee replacement - what a relief all of this is -

It's pretty sore and achey tonight - I think I will be going to be soon - I don't have my appetite back yet but one of my helpers went and did my shopping today and I have fresh vegetables to start again and I will get back into my eating habits soon enough I think - that's the way it usually goes for me

Lapses I think you have the anniversary of your girl passing around now - I haven't been in touch and missed things the last few days but yes - I have a birthday and an anniversary about my son in the next three weeks or so - the date of his adoption is a harder date that his birthday - I think that would be normal - and hey - I can hardly believe he would be turning 48 - how fast the years of his proposed life-time have flown by

Thinking of your Lapses

And Outlander - I hear you were badly triggered - I understand - I have had something along those lines happen now and again but as time has passed it happens rarely now but I did have a flashback after my operation - anasethetic does that to us from time to time

And Faith - I really have no idea what's happening in your life right now and I hope things are okay - I am not sure but I have the idea that WH is having to face what's happening and this is hard on your - harder than I thought but then - you know your situation better than I possibly could

I wish all of you the best and hope we all manage the hot weather wherever we are

Dec

I just remembered a joke - did you hear about the guy who built himself a space ship and told everyone he was going to take a trip to the sun - he was told how hot it would be and he said

"Aw - I have that covered - I am going to go at night"

Okay - that's enough
