Life is just chaos

Life is just chaos

I'm only in my 30s. My partner is slowly dying of terminal cancer, I have my nephew living in my care who definitely pushes my buttons, I have a young daughter who tries to copy her cousin. I'm having to live with another family member, so no room. Other family members been very sick, one passed away. My life is full of sickness, stress and a very scary future. Sometimes it all feels to much, I want to pack my daughter and myself up and run. Yet I love being there for my partner and family. Hardest part is obviously my partner (my daughter's dad) dying. Some days are just, hard.

Hey @Till23 ,

That's so amazing to hear @Till23 . I can relate to that.

I honestly don't think I'd be alive if I didn't have the forums (along with other supports). I find these forums a place of wellness if used in such a way 🙂

So glad to hear about the reciprocity of peer support. Absolutely powerful.

I’m thinking of maybe formalising my “work” @tyme.

I’ve seen people on here talking about some courses you can do at TAFE etc and I will look into them. Some sounded expensive, so may be out of my budget, but I’ll look into it anyway.

If you don't mind me asking, which state are you currently in? There are scholarships I may be able to direct you to @Till23

Re: Life is just chaos

Not to sound insensitive, but if your partner has life insurance, being terminal would allow the payment of any benefit early and could possibly help with your housing situation.

Again, sorry but just thinking out loud, I hope I didn’t overstep.

@Chaos1991

I'm so sorry you are going through such an incredibly stressful time. I can understand you must be feeling drained with so many people you care about are sick, especially your partner. @Till23 had some good advice about talking to someone. Please know that we are thinking of you.

That's really wonderful @Till23.

I heard that public libraries are beginning to hire social workers because librarians are overwhelmed by the needs of the mentally ill, homeless, and lonely people who frequent them. Their role will be to guide people toward resources and support services. I find libraries to be safe, welcoming spaces for everyone and they’re free.

Yes @Former-Member libraries are great resources for many things.

Even if it’s just a space out of the rain, but obviously have much more. As you say a lot of people who are lonely, have MH issues, insecure housing utilise them. And yes best of all - free.

Re: Life is just chaos

Hi @Chaos1991

Welcome to the forums, and thank you for sharing your story with us. It takes a lot of courage to reach out, and I'm really sorry for all that your'e going through right now.

It sounds like your'e carrying an overwhelming amount of stress, and it's completely understandable that some days feel especially hard. Caring for your dying partner is already an immense emotional and physical challenge, and on top of everything else your'e facing, it's a lot to hold.

I'm wonderning if you might be eligible for a carer's allowance, Centerlink may be able to provide some financial support. There may also be other resources available to help, such as a GP mental health plan that can offer sessions with a psychologist, or support services through the oncology department and of course the Cancer Council.

You should'nt have to navigate this alone, and I really hope you can access the support you deserve.

Please know that you're not alone in this. Keep reaching out, and I hope you find the care and guidance you need during this incredibly difficult time.

Remember to make time to take care of yourself, even if it's just a quiet moment sitting outside with a cup of tea. You're so focused on the care and needs of those around you that it's easy to forget about yourself, so take that extra long shower, go for a walk and breathe in the fresh air.

Sending strength to you and your loved ones.

Kindly Alisse
