Life is just chaos

Life is just chaos

I'm only in my 30s. My partner is slowly dying of terminal cancer, I have my nephew living in my care who definitely pushes my buttons, I have a young daughter who tries to copy her cousin. I'm having to live with another family member, so no room. Other family members been very sick, one passed away. My life is full of sickness, stress and a very scary future. Sometimes it all feels to much, I want to pack my daughter and myself up and run. Yet I love being there for my partner and family. Hardest part is obviously my partner (my daughter's dad) dying. Some days are just, hard.

That all sounds just like what I went through about10 years ago , be careful it can tip you over the edge, I ended up in hospital about three times but I did get through it all somehow, I had the added bonus of a narcissistic wife pushing me over the edge. She did leave eventually and Ive been experiencing housing insecurity and homelessness since, I'm slipping down the plug hole again as I'm waiting for a house to be built and the corporation building it are lying to me about when it'll be finished, it does feel better telling someone about it all though, hang in there as we can do it.

I hear you @Chaos1991 . You are certainly not alone.

Do you have any additional supports to help with your nephew? It's a lot to take on for one person.

Hello and welcome to the forums.

I am sorry to hear about your complex situation.

You’ve done well to cope with so much.

Does the hospital where your partner is being treated have a psycho-oncology department? As you would be eligible to access that service as a carer/family member of person with cancer.

Other places for support are Cancer Council 13 11 20 or take a look at their site https://www.cancercouncil.com.au/get-support/

they offer a number of different supports.

Of course we are also here to chat on the forums

Hey @Former-Member ,

I'm sorry to hear of your struggles with housing insecurity and homelessness. It sounds so stressful. What works in terms of managing day to day?

Nothing at this point, all the bad psychological effects are returning and I'm losing it, talking on here is distracting in any case, how much harder can they make it for us ? I've read about other people's experiences overseas in western countries and life circumstances are still better here, so I suppose we can say to ourselves " it could be a hell of a lot worse". I'm trying to muster some strength but it's all gone. The obfuscation is getting to me. Sorry, this probably isn't helping anyone.

To be honest, as well as I am, I had a really crappy day today, so maybe we can just all hang out together? Sometimes, just knowing we aren't alone can go a long way. @Former-Member

Re: Life is just chaos

Sorry to hear you had a crappy day @tyme and you are chatting a lot on the forums on top of that.

I also talk to people struggling with all types of problems like addiction, all types of MH problems, struggles with cost of living, DV and other trauma so it’s pretty full on. I only do one shift a week though so not too draining for rest of week.

Hope you both are ok and I’m here if you want to chat

Hey @Till23 ,

Thanks for your post. Much appreciated.

Yes, despite my crappy day, I'm so glad to be here. It's always lovely to connect with my Forums Family.

I hear you had a pretty big day too! Are you enjoying your volunteering work?

Hey @Chaos1991 @Former-Member 🙂

Re: Life is just chaos

Thanks for that, it's good to hear a friendly message, I'm socially isolated and the guy I live with has already disappeared down the plug hole, he is severely depressed and drinking himself to Death, I think I need to get put of here but I don't have the strength to move again, Ive moved 14 times in two years and I'm trying to help this other fella, I need to be strong for myself and him. Yes that's it, I'll try and get moving, there are things that need doing and this is an existential crisis, "when the going gets tough the tough get going", just one of many sayings from the wrong side of the tracks from whence I come. Hopefully I'll come good or not? I'll get going now and I hope everyone can maintain their inner strength, there's another good saying as well , " life is good if you don't weaken" and my dear ol dad used to say ," there is only one certainty in life and that is there is no certainty " . I'm not sure if that last one helps or not. God's grace, peace and love to everyone. Yep, I'm a bible basher. 🙏 ha ha.

Yes @tyme even though it’s a full on day. I am enjoying it and learning so much from the people I speak to. It’s face to face so that gives an extra dimension of really seeing and hearing the person and maybe they feel a bit more connection to another human.

I have learnt so much from the forums as well both personally and from the perspective of understanding the people I talk to at volunteering and I think I bring some of what I learn at volunteering to the forums. And of course I have my lived experience to help with both.

I hope I have been able to help other people, which is a huge goal of my life, to make a difference to other people in some small way.
