Welcome and getting started

New here

New here

Hello,

I have never done this before but thought I’d throw myself out there into the deep end (even though this causes me some fear and discomfort)……I’m new here and wanted to feel less alone with regard to my personal struggles I have been trying to tackle. I’ve had medically diagnosed anxiety and borderline personality disorder for quite some time - symptoms presented when I finished high school (over a decade now). In the last year of my life I feel as if I have slipped into a depressive state and have had some struggles with alcohol use. I haven’t had the confidence to obtain a job and my life feels like it’s slipping away from me. I don’t have any friends to talk to and I feel like a burden on my fiancée and my parents. I hope that maybe I could connect with people who are going through similar things and feel less alone. Sorry to start off on a low note. I’m just trying to be open about myself and see where it leads. Kindest regards from Belle.

Re: New here

@Bell-Anne hello and welcome to the forums. Thankyou and well done for sharing your story, it takes alot of strength to open up.

I myself have anxiety and BPD aswell as other mental health issues. Have you considered seeing a gp to get a mental health care plan so you can get some further support? It's a hard path to navigate alone but know that you aren't a burden on anyone and you deserve to be supported and feel heard and cared for.

You are definitely not alone here and we will support you however we can. I'm here if you would like to chat.

Content/trigger warning

Hello @Former-Member ,

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to me. I really appreciate it.

I have been seeing a psychologist. I’ve gone to countless psychologists and psychiatrists over the last decade. Recently it’s just become a big financial burden for me to obtain professional help. I’m having to rely on financial help from my parents. I still live at home but will be moving out soon with my partner. It’s stressful starting a new life chapter not knowing how to support yourself when help is so costly. I’m managing to get by for now, but even this situation keeps me in a cycle of guilt.

Have you found this forum a helpful community for you?

It’s nice to know that I’m not alone, thank you.

Re: New here

@Bell-Anne i understand the costs involved can make getting that help impossible even when it's so badly needed. Moving out will be a big step and a challenge in itself. It sounds like you have a supportive family and partner though which will definitely help navigating things forward. I'm sure your parents don't see it as a burden but rather that they are helping their child through mental health struggles which you should not be ashamed of.

I have found these forums to be incredibly helpful for me. I have no friends or family so the community here is all I have. I was in hospital over the weekend and knowing that I have so many people here checking in with me and showing kindness, compassion and support, it's honestly amazing.

Stay strong and know that we are here for you ❤️

Re: New here

Hey @wildflower444 welcome!!

Just a lil tip, if you want other members to be notified that you've responded, you can tag them - use the @ symbol and a drop down will appear, and you can choose their name. If their name isn't there, you can type it out and it should then appear for you to select, then it will show up in blue, like this: @Bell-Anne

More How-to guides here 😊
