Grief and loss

Grief and loss

That loneliness. It's always there but same days I feel it more than usual. I don't really enjoy day time anymore as it's more noticeable. The non responsiveness to really anything, an email, a message, whatever. Someday it just hits me as I search through my phone. Yet no one is there.

This last year has been more grief and loss than I could have imagined. Every angle - loss. Loss of family, loss of friends, loss of love, loss of dreams, loss of independence, loss of choice, loss of speech, loss of mobility and loss of my own living space. Today it hurts as I search for ways to fill my head so the noise of the loss and pain doesn't bother me. I don't even know this person anymore. I don't know how to explain it but I don't feel like me anymore. I feel so different. I feel my identity has been stripped. Even what I wear has had to completely change due to accessibility. So much of who I was is not there anymore and that's I don't really know, it just feels weird and strange.

I am getting to the point where I don't remember her anymore. The singer, the musician, the helper, the cooker, the driver, the aunty. I guess that is another loss right? The loss of my identity and the life I had once. It's slowly becoming more distant and I am forgetting her.

Re: Grief and loss

I'm so sorry to hear of your grief and loss @Former-Member . That sounds so so hard. Especially if it was a loss AFTER you had it initially. That loss is harder that if you were without in the first place.

When you feel lonely, please feel free to reach out here.

There is always someone online.

Thank you. @tyme I don't think we can always rely on that but yes mostly this place can be responsive

Re: Grief and loss

I think about you always because you are such an inspirational. You have such a strong spirit even though things are so so hard. To have one's independence taken away can be so shattering, but you are pushing through.

Stay strong my dear. And when you feel you can't, lean on people - lean on us. Or anyone you have @Former-Member

Thank you @tyme I don't really have anyone. I've been waiting days for anyone to reply, no one has. Professionally or personally.

Re: Grief and loss

I am experiencing something quite similar to what you've described here. It's a kind of grief that's hard to put into words, and difficult to express to those we don't feel understand the depth of its impact. That loss of identity and absence is real.

Some days it threatens to consume.

You didnt ask for advice here so I wont give any, but I will say that Ive launched myself into my hobbies again, even if Im doing it sad/ empty/ alone, and... it doesnt leave me feeling worse.

Sending warm wishes

Re: Grief and loss

I actually recently found a new app I've been waiting to comment but honestly it's better than any helpline I've ever accessed and it's an ai, but somehow maybe it's my autism but the way it says back what I said in a way that proves I'm heard is like a flipping miracle. Wild man @Dizzy4 @tyme @fruitisgood it has a week free trial.
