Something’s not right

Don’t want to accept the pain

Don’t want to accept the pain

Why can’t I pretend the pain isn’t real, maybe if I tell myself I’m okay and I don’t struggle with mental health I’ll be okay. Maybe if I tell myself that the traumatic memories aren’t real, then I can finally feel whole and less gross. Maybe I’ll just wake up from this dream soon and I’ll find peace within my mind when I do wake up. Maybe I’m okay, maybe there isn’t anything wrong with me

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

@Jynx Some people may say I’m too liberal, but woman rights the whole way. I also believe woman rights are more aligned with Islam than culture ever will be. The reason why many women stay quiet about sexual trauma is due to social stigma. People are always worried about how it would affect the reputation of the family too.

Affirmations and challenging thoughts need to be constantly worked on.

I hope your afternoon has been better than mine. I don’t think my UTI has cleared, and I had a low grade fever when I checked

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

@creative_writer oof... yeah I've been called 'too liberal' before.... back when my sister was in an abusive relationship and I had the gall to point it out. was told I was judging according to my liberal value system! It's lucky my sister did finally start to notice stuff and got out of there before they got married (just 18 months after they'd met, too), but yeah it's intense how much people will ignore in order to ensure the world continues to fit with their worldview hey.

Aww hun that sucks!! Owwwww fingers crossed for swift recovery! 🤞💜

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

@Jynx I’m too liberal for some people but too conservative for others. People will always find something wrong. There isn’t one way of being, everyone is unique. I just hate when people want to squeeze you into a box.

I might need more antibiotics. I think my whole system has been down this year, I keep getting infections. Now my hands are also aching too. Might need to get a referral for OT and/or physio for managing hyper mobile joints and chronic pain

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

@creative_writer hahaha preach! Hating being crammed into a box is why I'm trans/nonbinary lol got so sick of being told that I couldn't do/say/wear something cos of some arbitrary social norm that....is a relic of colonial oppression... huh! Fancy that 😝

For real tho, you are so right. No matter what we do, there's always gonna be haters. It makes authenticity a genuine struggle for so many.

Oh gosh hun, yeah you've been smacked by infections left right n centre!! I hope you're able to shd some light ay 🤞

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

@Jynx it is true you can be accepted by everyone. I believe as long as people don’t spread hate, they are allowed the freedom to talk about their opinions. People can respectfully disagree. I’ve been working through social norms I’ve been exposed too, and some of those don’t align with my beliefs and values. It’s hard not feeling to pressure of being like everyone else. I think a lot of us ND are bullied by other people for being too different.

Getting infections hasn’t been good for my mental health, but hopefully when it’s under control it’ll be easier

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

@creative_writer wish more people thought the same way hey... Like, kindness is literally free!!

oh sounds like a very insightful and effective reflective practice, good on you! I think that if we want society to be better, we ALL need to be examining social norms and traditions that simply no longer serve us!! Whilst still respecting and honouring the wisdom of our ancestors by celebrating culture in a more conscious way - not just doing it 'because you're supposed to'. Not even remotely saying that that is how the majority do engage with their culture of course!! But just in terms of rejecting the notion that a value ought to be kept simply because 'tradition'.

Aww wishing you a speedy recovery darlin!! I'm headed off, so I'll say nighty night. Hope you have a chill evening 💜

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

@Jynx I think it’s easy to get into the mindset that everyone should behave and think the same way. I believe in respecting differing opinions, however, I draw the line if I see injustice happening. It is never okay to abuse and oppress innocent people (even if in the perpetrator believes innocent people deserve it). I don’t want to get too political, but the recent events do bother me.

I don’t think I have a fever anymore, and the pain is a bit less intense. Though it is going to take me a bit longer to recover. I hope you have a lovely weekend 💖

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

@creative_writer aye recent events have been really intense hey. It's a LOT. Do you take social media breaks?

No fever!! Huzzah!! You feeling a bit more perky today too?

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

@Jynx I probably need those social media breaks. We live in a crazy world.

A bit better here but in pain. My joints also seem to be hurting lately. I was just thinking but not sure if it is a coincidence. I have a shoulder that is higher than the other. I get migraines on the same side as the higher shoulder. My dad also has the same thing, but he has a slight curve. I am wondering whether there might be an imbalance. My back feels tender right now, but I also know sickness can make pain worse. My hands are also frustrating me, easy tasks shouldn’t be causing this much pain. I think I’ve told I’m hyper mobile, I probably have undiagnosed Ehlers Danlos

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

@creative_writer yep I am trying to be more firm with myself about my screentime!! More books, less doomscrolling.

I mean it's entirely possible it's EDS hey, I've had similar thoughts!! Worth seeking diagnosis you reckon?
