Making friends off the sane Australia forum

Is there anyway we can make friends off the sane Australia forum in real life or everybody just wants to stay anonymous? Has anybody met in real life off the sane Australia forum?

hi there,

SANE is strictly anonymous. For in person peer connection, you will need to go via a different organization.

Thanks

Yeah it's unfortunate because I see this as a real missed opportunity.

It seems to follow my real world experience in that a lot of support that is offered now is telehealth, and a lot of communication is via email/phone calls etc. Also, everything seems to be done on a one on one basis. What a lot of people don't seem to get, is just how fundamental it is for people with mental health issues to have actual human interaction.

If you look at the Recovery Model Framework, they talk about taking a holistic approach, building a meaningful life through connection - to ourselves and our identity, through our relationships with people and the community, our culture etc.

Everyone seems to promote connectedness, but the system itself is so fragmented and disconnected, and too much virtual/digital based support just compounds the problem IMO.
