Living with Tourettes and Manic Depression

Living with Tourettes and Manic Depression

Apologies if I have posted this in the wrong section.
I've lived with manic depression since 1994 and more recently adult-onset tick disorder, more commonly known as Tourette’s. Life is a constant struggle especially when visiting places that use fluoro lights i.e the supermarkets, doctors and other places. The worst part is trying to hide it. I explain the feeling of trying to prevent ticks as shaking a bottle of coke. I’m not sure why I reached out here, but I guess I was looking to find other people or groups that meet that share the similar struggles I do. Anyway, thanks for your time.

@tyme just taking things minute by minute. One shaky step at a time.

Hey @Hash @Former-Member @Dizzy4,

Even if you're in SA, you're still more than welcome in the Bipolar Life Victoria online meetings. We have people join from all over Australia and even internationally from places such as Europe! You'll be made most welcome. And if you sign up with your mobile number, you'll receive a monthly reminder a day or two before the group meeting. So useful for remembering. Otherwise, you can always set a monthly-repeating reminder on your phone/device/computer calendar app. Meetings are held on the same day every month.

I've been going along on and off for a few years now, the brains trust has been really helpful in my self-education and recovery journey. We talk about everything from medication, to relationships - romantic, family and friends, work, hobbies, NDIS, co-morbidities and everything in between. Basically, whatever anyone in the group wants to ask or comment - nothing is off limits, as long as it is safe, respectful and follows group guidelines.

Do consider coming along!

@tyme. having a pretty good day today thanks. You know, nobody in my immediate world really NEEDS me. My kids and grandies are living interstate, doing well thankfully. My sisters live hours or days away from me by road. Lucky me, theyve all got it together. I seriously dont think my friends here where i live have ever known anyone with a mental health issue (except me), so its very awkward. I can tell they dont want to ask how i am because i certainly wont say "fine thanks". They are all happy all the the time (or faking it). SOOO, I LOVE THIS FORUM. I am an empath by nature, and my purpose in a day is just to be supportive, or helpful or whatever, to whoever. I seem to always be online here lately, but its filling up a huge empty space inside me. thanks everyone

Agreed @Dizzy4 . This space is so fulfilling for me and I feel the more I reach out to others, the more fulfilling it is to me.

Maybe you need to look into peer work!
