Send 'smooth-sailing' sentiments to Spirit_Healer!

Hey SANE community,

If we haven't yet interacted here, I'm Spirit_Healer!

I have made many friends along my journey here so far:

@tyme @Oaktree @Shaz51 @BPDSurvivor @creative_writer @The-red-centaur @rav3n @Ru-bee @Jynx @PeppyPatti @MJG017 @Healandlove @Blackcloud @Glisten @Former-Member @Clawde @ArraDreaming

And I'd love to get to know anyone else here, too!

@tyme suggested I make my own thread here, so that my posts don't get lost in the Best Friends Club thread.

You can also find parts of my story here:

Disclosing to a romantic partner

Cluster B Brother

This evening, my ex is about to call me. I haven't spoken properly to him since 11 November 2024, because he ghosted me for 8 weeks from 14 November until early January 2025. Then he met me at a salsa and bachata dance event, said "good to see you" and "did you receive my message?". The second time he said "good to see you" he disappeared. That was half an hour into the salsa social.

I just played another hour or so on the piano, sentimental and romantic pieces by Yiruma, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Chopin and Yanns Tiersen. I even had an audience of two fellow patients in the hospital at one point, before they took their night meds and went to bed. She reassured me that I could continue to play, because she would sleep through my playing.

I'd better get off now, to prepare for the phone call.

Fingers crossed we're both thinking openly, respectfully and clearly.

Afterwards, I'll take my night meds, hit the shower and then hop into bed.

Good night, and thank you, SANE community, in advance for your support!

@tyme you know, perspective is really interesting:

My psychiatrist received a letter from my income protection insurer asking her to answer some questions. She said they are framing my capacity to work part time as if to probe 'why I'm not back to full time work yet'. She said to me that she will reframe it back to them as 'it's really good already that I am managing my bipolar and coping with part time work'. Personally, I think the insurer is just trying to be stingy and doesn't want to keep paying me if they can get out of it.

That's interesting. Is income protection part of private health or super?

@tyme which fruit is your favourite?

My income protection is part of my super. They have a 90 day waiting period and then up to two years of payouts.

Re: Send 'smooth-sailing' sentiments to Spirit_Healer!

Thank you for thinking of me @Shaz51 .

I'm preparing to return to work next week, still on reduced hours. My sleep routine is proving difficult at the moment: I felt sleepy during the day yesterday, slept over two hours on and off and then took a long time to fall asleep last night. Right now I feel foggy.

Yesterday evening I went to the only social thing that I did with friends for my whole break, a catch up with church friends. Mum and Dad were home most of these holidays and I felt no motivation to organise anything people outside the family.

I'm still frustrated and making little progress with the dating apps. I decided that if I get too frustrated, that I'll spend less time on it for a day or two until I feel ready again. I haven't matched with anyone the last few days, before that I matched with three people who didn't reply back afterwards. It makes me wonder whether these people are just 'collecting matches' to boost their egos, rather than seeking out partners intentionally. I guess for me, all I need is one good person at the end of the day.

The weather is cooler today, I went outside this morning and look what I found:

What's been happening for you @Shaz51 ? How did you fare in the wild weather recently?

How did you fare in the wild weather recently? --- all good , lots of rain and flooding around us as the cyclone went past us which was good for us but not good for others down the coastline xx

I've been back a few days from overseas and I'm more tanned than ever by being in Australia. One day at the beach, and 2 days in the pool and I'm dark as @Spirit_Healer

I had such an awesome break that it was hard to get back in to the swing of things.

But we both know how important routine is. You go back next week? Did you get the insurance stuff sorted?

Hey @tyme ,

Great to hear that you've given yourself an amazing time off. Yes, the Australian sun is a scorcher and catches many overseas tourists by surprise!

I agree with you, up until yesterday I wasn't ready to return to work yet, but now I have realised the importance of good routine, and how this is easier achieved with work as part of my schedule.

My psychiatrist has finished her letter to my insurer, emphasising that she thinks we have the balance right in terms of work, treatment and recovery.

Yes, I return to work next week. I'm feeling quietly confident. My psychiatrist said that we will wait until August before considering an increase in work hours - that actually takes the pressure off on my end. Although I've been disappointed at times by my slow increase in hours, I'm now giving myself the grace to have some self-compassion towards my recovery.
