Absolutely. Each person's journey is unique. It may have similarities, but each person is the expert in their own journey. @Andy_48

I'm trying to find the right support, it's hard on your own to even think let alone to find the right path . I'm over medication. I really want to feel well every day is a hangover and I don't drink . I really need a purpose in life. I have no job or friends.

We might be related as I have and feel the same issues (haha).

I am volunteering now and actively always looking for suitable jobs, coming on/off this site, calling Lifeline etc.

I think we all feel we are "the only one" going through this but then seeing people like yourself keep you (me) in reality and knowing it is common.

If meds aren't working, have you considered speaking to your treating doc to see what else in available? In the meantime, we are here for you. @Andy_48 I hear how hard things are, and believe me, it's not uncommon.

I think I was in this depressive stupor for a good decade. And in time, things DID change - for the better.

You mentioned you don't have a purpose in life. What would you ideally want your life to look like?

Work and have friends. My journey that lead me here is something really complicated to explain on a site like this . But I really want a purpose .

What work are you interested in @Andy_48 ? Also, in terms of friends, what are you wanting these friends to provide?

Sorry for all these questions. I personally find the idea of what constitutes a friend quite difficult to fathom.

I can't say I have friends. But maybe my idea of a 'friend' is different from others?

Feeling like you have no purpose can be a challenging experience, but it’s important to remember that purpose is not always something you are born with—it’s something you discover or create over time. Purpose can be found in small moments, like helping someone, learning something new, or pursuing an interest, even if it feels insignificant at first. Taking time to explore your passions, values, and what brings you joy can help spark a sense of direction. Remember, purpose doesn’t have to be grand or world-changing; it can simply be about living each day meaningfully and authentically. It’s okay to start small—just taking one step forward can lead to a greater sense of fulfillment.

I understand what your saying . But for me , I need to work as I keeps me grounded . I like being around people. I hate loneliness and isolation. It's tormenting .

So it sounds like it is a case of same societal label ("mental illness"/"mental health issues"), radically differant mindsets.

You previously alluded to having "mental health issues" yourself. In what way(s) does your mentality differ from the norm? How is it that you think different to the other people you encounter, or have encountered in the past?

Do you think you could be well served by being matched up with people who share those same 'abnormal' ways of thinking? (For want of a better way of putting it)
