TW: Abusive relationships

Abusive relationships, particularly those involving psychological abuse, can have profound and lasting effects on us. Psychological abuse often involves manipulation, gaslighting, emotional blackmail, and controlling behaviors that erode a person’s self-esteem, sense of identity, and mental well-being. Over time, the victim may begin to doubt their perception of reality, feel isolated, or experience intense anxiety and depression. Understanding abusive relationships and psychological abuse is crucial for recognizing early warning signs and preventing harm. This type of abuse can lead to trauma, long-term mental health issues, and difficulties in forming healthy relationships in the future. The emotional scars of psychological abuse are often invisible, but they can be just as damaging as physical abuse, affecting a person's ability to trust others and live a fulfilling life. Many victims stay in toxic relationships due to manipulation, fear, or lack of knowledge about healthy dynamics. Awareness can help empower individuals to set boundaries and seek help before the abuse escalates.

I agree with you in regards to the detrimental effects it can have. One idea I came across relating to this was that one thing individuals who were sadly victims of PA lacked was being able to express their anger. Since generally a situation like this makes outsiders angry on their behalf yet, they would not express theirs. I came across the notion then that anger is not as bad as some people view it and that it is sometimes necessary in order to get yourself out of bad situations. Now of course there's reasons they are not able to express their anger which usually also has a sad reasons, just thought I'd add this insight.
