Overwhelming thoughts

Overwhelming thoughts

Trigger warning! Self harm and suicidal thoughts are mentioned.

Content/trigger warning

I really feel like I'm going crazy right now. My thoughts of suicide and urges of self harm are completely taking control over me. It doesn't matter how hard i try to distract myself or what other things I try to do, nothing works.

I'm sick of losing control and self harming, I'm sick of the thoughts almost constantly running through my head. It just plays over and over again as I find myself thinking of all the ways I could just end it all. It's so scary cos I've been down that path before when I lost control and tried to take my own life several times.

I get so frustrated when crisis lines ask me if I have a plan, the answer is always no because I don't run on plans. Every attempt I've made previously wasn't planned, it was a spare of the moment thing when I lost control and didn't realise what I'd done until it was too late.

I don't know how I'm supposed to live like this, is there any way of co existing with these thoughts and urges or am I just a lost cause like the psychologist told me. I just want to make it all stop, I'm sick of my mind constantly racing and I'm sick of having to fight myself every step of the way.

It would be so much easier to just give in, to not have to battle myself every second of everyday. I'm exhausted, sad, frustrated, scared and hurting and I just want to make everything go away.

Re: Overwhelming thoughts

I feel so much for you @Former-Member

It’s horrible professionals told you that you were a lost cause

I can relate to the impulses I used to get them too though they weren’t constant just when I got triggered

I would have to hold myself back from just running to the nearest way to hurt myself

It did pass though eventually when the underlying trauma got addressed

I wish I could be there for you

sending you all the good hopes, wishes and prayers

glad you are talking about it here and hoping that somehow a shift comes for you ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹🙏🏽

Re: Overwhelming thoughts

@Former-Member sorry for the wrong use of words. I was meaning that you are valid. Your feelings and experiences are valid. There is nothing you have to apologise for.

I wasn't meant to invalidate how you were feeling yesterday. I was trying to show you it can get better. I have been in that place of 24/7 urges and thoughts year in year out. I have major, permanent health issues from some of my attempts. But I haven't attempted for a while, even my sh has majorly decreased.

I never thought I'd improve, or get to place where I didn't wish to die every second of every day. But somehow I got there. I'm not saying you may get rid of the thoughts, but as @tyme said, you learn to live with them somehow.

It's never going to be easy however, I cant tell you there will be sunshine and roses from now on, but I'll tell you it's worth it. Hanging on, pulling through, fighting our own hell. It is worth it. The beauty amongst the shit fest makes it worth it for me.

Re: Overwhelming thoughts

@The-red-centaur @Fredd50 thankyou to you both. I can't stick around here right now. I'm so ashamed of what I've done and how I've hurt and let everyone here down. But I just wanted to let you know that I'm ok to a degree. I'm sorry though to everyone here.

Re: Overwhelming thoughts

Hi @Former-Member good on you for keeping that appointment. While you mentioned that your post that they didn't seem to know of many other options, were there some options or supports that your GP spoke about?

Re: Overwhelming thoughts

@Fredd50 i broke down as soon as I saw my doctor and just begged him to help me. I've now got medication to try to help me sleep. But me and medications don't go well together so that's scary in itself.
