Re: Life and trauma

@Jynx i hate when things have been going mostly ok and then things all just start crashing down. I don't even know what caused it which is frustrating. But I'm sitting on my bed attempting to do my colouring which I've almost given up on so many times cos I've made 3 mistakes on it now 😂

Re: Life and trauma

How do you know they are mistakes @Former-Member, maybe it’s subconscious creativity!

It’s great to hear you are using strategies to help yourself. Distraction is one of my go to strategies

Re: Life and trauma

@Former-Member ohhh so annoying! Just be cautious about delving into what may have caused it... I know for myself that can be a real good way to kick off a nasty spiral.

Eep, nooo.... cos then you get frustrated from mistakes, and then you might make more!! Hmm if you took a breather from colouring, would that be okay right now? Even just to hop up and have a stretch! Does wonders to refresh brain 😉

Re: Life and trauma

@Till23 oh they are mistakes, made when one gets easily distracted by something else and forgets where one is up to 😂. I do love the thinking though, subconscious creativity 😊.

Distractions are mostly what work for me but sometimes it's hard to focus which makes things challenging.

Re: Life and trauma

@Jynx I'm not even trying to work out what caused things to start crashing, just trying to focus on the good things today.

I haven't even done any of the colouring yet, just have it sitting next to me. I did go outside earlier and water my gardens so that was my stretching of the legs 😊

Re: Life and trauma

I’m glad I got a laugh out of you @Former-Member

Yes I agree, distraction doesn’t always work but it’s a good one to try.

I often try to do something physical if my first distraction doesn’t work. I at least go out into the garden and do some pruning or something.

Re: Life and trauma

@Till23 i still have my sense of humour, sometimes at the most inappropriate times 😂

That's what I did first, I went and watered my gardens. I think it's just been a tough time lately and whilst I've had good moments sometimes I forget those and the negative ones feel like that's all there is. I have to really stop and think about what's good or what's at least been ok and accept that I can't control everything that's happening.

Re: Life and trauma

Yay good on you @Former-Member - good to have those little wins! Watering garden and a stretch is a good one! Also ty for reminding me I need to water my succulents tonight haha.

Any other little wins today? How bout you @Till23?

My little wins have been.... I made a HUGE bottle of iced coffee for the hot days ahead, I did a quick tidy before work so my space wasn't so chaotic, annnnd.... Oh! I went to the chemist!! Yay!

Re: Life and trauma

@Jynx you're welcome for the reminder 😊.

I brushed my teeth this morning, got dressed, did the washing and dishes, had a little nap which is very rare for me and then did shopping and got the bonus of seeing a worker that I hadn't seen for a while and got a hug. So quite a few little wins for me.

Yay for iced coffee for the hot days ahead, I'm having an iced coffee now. Well done for the quick tidy up and getting the chemist trip out the way 😊

Re: Life and trauma

I agree @Former-Member humans tend to have a bias towards the negative and it’s sometimes hard to remember the positives. I definitely have this bias.

I find I really have to purposefully think of positives, when my mind starts to go down the negative path
