Santa day

Santa day

The 25th of December has always been a bad day for me. So much pain associated with it. Traumas from childhood. Year after year in psych wards on the day that they say should be merry.

I'm trying to move past it. To rename and reshape it. It's just Santa doesn't really tend to visit me either.

I know lots of peeps here struggle like I do with holidays, especially this one. The financial burden is high, let alone all the social fatigue, the societal expectations, etc.

I'm boycotting it this year. The 25th doesn't exist in my head. Santa, Jesus, which ever god people worship can get F#ked. They aren't real anyway so why should I devote my time for it.

I'm going to go for a drive, find a quiet beach, have a few beers, and pretend like things are great, eat lots of cheese, get sunburnt, go home, and sleep.

Re: Santa day

@The-red-centaur Nice to see you on here again! I just have a quiet day on xmas usually. I celebrate in my own way, don't get caught up in the festivities. I don't do the hectic schedules, I live alone. Truth be told I don't like this time of year at all, for many people even without MI its hard to embrace making conscious choices and to understand personal patterns and triggers on xmas day. I'm appraising this day in advance but when it comes I'll just wait for the day to pass by and process what needs to be processed and don't strain myself over what might otherwise break a peaceful day. I hope you enjoy your drive, thats a positive. Having a vehicle creates mobility, you can go to a lovely beach setting and have beers. I know its challenging given our origins but there is always something good in life even though what has been brought to bear on our lives. Even though my family could not care for me they gave me embodiment to partake of life and what the world had to offer me which has been a big plus! Wishing you a good xmas however you choose to celebrate. There are so many people that don't celebrate whether its customs or personal reasons. I elect to do it my own way and intend to move through the day cautiously and consciously.

Re: Santa day

@The-red-centaur I’m not fond of traditional Christmas it fills me with anxiety.

We live in the Southern Hemisphere the traditional stuff doesn’t work here.

More power to you for doing what you want on the day.

My daughter doesn’t celebrate Christmas. I totally support her and you.

💪🏼👍🏼

Re: Santa day

I am sorry this time of year is so hard for you. I completely opted out and boycotted Christmas in 2022. I have children and grand children, so I just put money in envelopes for them and did what I wanted that day.

it is a pagan holiday anyway, I hope you have a wonderful day on the beach but not sure sunburn is a good idea.

Re: Santa day

hey there @The-red-centaur how are you holding up tonight?

i like your idea of renaming the 25th... you mentioned wanting to eat a lot of cheese, so cheese day? i'm sure you'll find a more creative name hehe. really love your plan, hope you catch the sunset at the beach on that day as well.

@rav3n and everyone else.

Thank you for the comments.

I'm so sick with pneumonia at the moment. And I love house on Friday.

Getting away at Santa day will be a nice relief.

Re: Santa day

@The-red-centaur have you got antibiotics? I’ve had pneumonia twice, it’s horrible. Are you getting any sleep mate?

Re: Santa day

@Glisten @rav3n i just finished my dose of antibiotics. It's still so hard for breathe, but it's I.proving slowly. I have done a lot of moving prep thanks to my support workers, im so glad I've had their assistance because I am not capable of much at the moment.

This is my second bad pneumonia this year. And to throw another shit in the hole I woke up with a dental abscess and my face is severely stolen.

Re: Santa day

Getting to a dentist is impossible, 1 I can't afford it, 2, my pneumonia would mean I would be able to get treated.

Gah can the universe just ease up a little, im struggling enough as it is.
